Dad used to say: as we were growin up:
You will go hungry on the streets, and I will laugh...Everybody hates you children, and your mother is a cancer to society and she is like a snake....He said we were all bad and should have been thrown out of the house including his wife who slaved over him and dedicated herself to him 40 years of marriage, and She held the marriage while he gambled and gambled.
He pressured her to get divorce but Mom never granted it, because she didn't want to lose anything.
He would say UNTRUTHFUL BAD things to us family members and try to make us hate each other, and he would say anything to strangers about us as a family that were NOT true.
To this day, I absolutely HATE going to dad's grave, as I feel he is not at rest and he was evil to us as a family.
He left us broke breaking the Family Trust account and gambled it all, and left us with over $30,000 in household damages he failed to repair. He purposely wanted to see us on the streets.

Me and my mother keep having to yell and scream when we talk and when I am quiet for a while it seems that she talks just that much longer so I am asking for tips on how to train myself to be quiet and still have my sanity and how to talk in a normal voice without yelling when I do decide to say something

My husband and I just got married last month. He wants me change my last name to his last name only and not my name hyphen his name. Before we got married he did say that he would want my last name to be changed. However, I also told him that I wanted my correct last name and hyphenated his last name. He even gave me an ultimatum on our marriage concerning this. What should I do?

I married a wonderfu man 2 years ago and he has a 16 year old daughter and i have a 16 year old daughter, born the same year, same day, six hours apart. I stay home and take care of the kids as I have 2 other girls also. The oldest ones give me so much crap its unreal.. The biggest thing is this..

we go them cell phone like a year and a half ago to keep in touch with them, because there driving now...

well we have told them over and over that 12 midnight is the cut off time to talk on the phone. than i was getting bills and looking at them and they had 1am, 2am, 3am and 4 am calls.. I told them one more time it was to stop or i will pull the phones...
So now they both decided to mute the house phone and switch nights talking on that to their boyfriends all night... I caught them last night because I called the house phone just to see and it was busy, they both say " Its not me" i could not find the phone, i searched all night, and when i got up, there it was on charger.

My 13 year old step-daughter came home from school today and prompty whent out to a friends. An hour and a half later she was brought home by a police officer...she was so drunk that she couldn't hold herself up let alone walk. Of course throwing up everywhere too. The officer was amazing and helped me with her. I called her Mother and she came to get her right away...we are dealing with where the alcohol came from.
My problem is that my husbands kids do bad things like this all the time and have done worse and they get away with it. I am afraid that he will get home, converse with the mother and decide to let her off again...
I feel like I should step in here (probably to no avail) and try to enforce some kind of punishment for this behavior....I am so frusterated!!!!!
I care about these kids and want to see them grow up to be good responsible people...help?

I am a 33 year old father, and just started using Yahoo answers. So far I have been contacted via Yahoo message board twice by people wanting to talk. I have a practice of asking people I don't know, their age. Both contacts were minors, in which I ended the conversations---politely. With all the hype of child predators this concerns me. I have been more diligent on observing my child when they are on the computer. Being a single father this is tough but keeping up to date on what your children do is not only a job but an obligation.

My mother went to her homeland last week for the first time in 26 years since she was diagnosed with a mental illness. She has made a dramatic recovery since then which has taken years of patience, and she has never wanted to go back to her homeland because of bad memories. I spoke to her today (from abroad) and she sounded agitated and her speech was slured just as it was when she had her mental illness. I am supposed to pick my mother and father from the airport on Sunday morning and have a party to go to on Saturday night. Asked the girlfriend if we could leave just a little earlier from the party (i'd rather not go all together - as i'm concerned for my mothers safe return) and an argument brewed. She was more concerned for the party and "looking silly leaving earlier than everyone else". I can't believe that at a time like this she wont cut me any slack. What are your thoughts on this matter? Am I wrong to react like this? - I am genuinely worried about my mum.

My daughters birthday is usually right before or after Thanksgiving ( this year it's 2 days after. she'll be 3)
and I want to have a birthday party and invite all the family.
I could do it the weekend before or even that first weekend in Nov. but i am so uncertain as when to have it.when do you think would be good?
I want to do it back home like usual but right now I am in school and I would have to go back numerous times to get things ready like buy decorations, food, etc. and traveling that much is a big dent on my wallet.being a college student and all.
and usually only about 1/2 that i invite go. and we usually have alot of food left. so I'm wondering if I should even have her B-day. I really want to but since I am in college I have little money to go by
any suggestions or just anything would help.
thanks

They owe 500 on the water bill and we did not know this until it was shut off. We have given them money to pay bills with but they used it to make a car payment instead. Should I be upset that the water was turned off? Also she doesn't work neither do I but I am actively looking for work (ie: going to interviews at least 3 times a week) she sitts at home and sleeps all day. Should we still be expected to give them money each week to pay for bills when its not even going towards the shared bills?

Every boyfriend I've ever had her famous line is "I hope you don't marry him". This sort of thing has been going on since my sister was my age, and now she is 29. I'm dating my boyfriend, and yes we talk about marriage and maybe he will be the one I marry. However, my mother is so hooked on the fact she doesn't want me to. I say tough ****, I am going to marry who ever I want because it's my decision and my life. We fight constantly about it, and I am not giving up on what I believe. What should I do? My sister and I have tried telling her if she continues behaving this way she is going to lose me for good. What is a nicer way of putting how I feel without fighting with her? I am so sick of fighting, and she is actually making me want to move out and say goodbye for good.

Please help, any of you psychiatrists out there, real or amateur, I've got a problem with my mum. This problem started in 2004 she seems to have developed an obsession/paranoia about this teenage boy in our street. She is convinced that this boy is going to damage our house in some way, and she is scared stiff. The boy hasn't really done anything to suggest that this is possible, he's done some puerile things like throw eggs at the windows and sit on our garden wall to defy us and little things like that, but nothing threatning. As a result, my mum now refuses to sit in the Living room because the very sight of this boy walking past is enough to cause her a real problem, even although he seems to have matured a little and doesn't cause us a problem any more. She refuses point blank to discuss the matter, and I just feel like beating the living sh1t out of this boy for what he has done to my mum, I'm nearing the end of my ability to stay quiet about it, I'm ready to explode, HELP!
