The maintenance of orphanages comes from tax dollars and or donations to charities. There are very few orphanages in the US. The ones that are still in existence are privately. Children who are eligible for adoption are in foster homes or group homes. Not orphanages.

Go on line and look up The North American Council on Adoptable Children and The Child Welfare League of America these two organizations can and will support my answer.... Good Luck to you. I hope this helps.

All of the above. Public institutions are funded by tax dollars and charitable donations. Private institutions are funded by their sponsors and donations from charity as well.

Depends...if it is state owned it comes from state taxes. Others such as Catholic homes, Luthern Homes, etc., get funding from their state, government, and charities.
