My brother just tried to committ suicide for the 2nd time tonight. I need answers fast. He is an alcolholic and emotional. Alcolhol has given him the courage both times. Our family just don't know what to do.

If he really wanted to do it...he would have. He is looking for someone to be there for him, attention, etc. I'm not saying this in a bad way, I have been there and done that with my mom who was also an alcoholic. You can try to get guardianship over that person in court. If you can prove they are mentally unstable and incapable of making decisions for their own well being, you can get the guardianship and get them the help they need.

For immediate attention, call 911 and tell the operator what's going on. They should send a team of interventionists to protect him for the night. They'll probably take him to the hospital to see a psychiatrist. After that, he'll be released, and he should join an AA or similar program. Stay with him. He needs help.

even if he doesn't want to help himself you have to get him help. if you can get him into rehab or AA they will help him learn to want to help him self. i might not be totally correct but i went through a really similar problem with my father and it seem to help
