I'm doing some research for my college psychology class on this subject and i was just wondering how many people will answer this.

yes once, when I was 8 or 9, a friends grandfather sexually abused me..I never went near him again..I told my Mom when I was grown, only because a relative had abused this same mans great grand daughter..My mom wanted to know why I had never told her before..I said because I thought my Dad would have beat him up and gone to jail..This happened in the late 1940s and was not preached to kids about "touching" like it is now..so I figured I was uncomfortable with it and would never put myself in that position again..I did not have any psychological effects from it.

Yes, physically. And if you want a really good one, go interview foster children. Many of them are physically and sexually abused after they go into foster care but guess what...nothing is done. So when people wonder why most of them end up screwed up...they just don't know all the facts.

I was more or less neglected. My mother was an ineffectual parent who put her career first to earn money while placing me with awful babysitters. My father was very controlling of me and mainly satisfied with having his own way. From his example, I was a habitual lier as a child. Neither of them knew how to teach me self-esteem, and I don't think they had their priorities straight. I may not have become a criminal, but I am practically a hermit with no relationships past or present to speak of. I guess it was mainly neglect and emotional abuse.

I was raped when 8 years old...never told anyone until about 15/20 years ago...I'm now 68 years old...and yes - it affected relationships with men... I have trusted very few....and may have been over cautious with my daughters - but they've been safe

yeah..i was mentally and physically abused, and then abandoned. i don't have to tell any of my family they all know what that witch did to me was wrong.
besides i'm medicated and pretty dang happy now.
