Hello All,

So, have many of the wedding reception traditions become tacky? For example:

What do you think about the "Cake Smash" that some brides and grooms now seem to think is funny? Is this funny, or offensive?

How about the groom's removal of the garter from the bride's leg? Is this funny, or embarrassing? Then, sometimes, the flower toss winner and the garter toss winner are supposed to get together and the garter toss winner puts the garter on the bouquet toss winner's leg....is this just putting people on the spot?

What about the Dollar Dance? The majority of people on Answers think this is tacky, but it seems to happen at most weddings. Why does this continue?

Do you really recommend "raffling" off and giving away the centerpieces? Do your guests really want to take the centerpieces home??

Lots of questions, I know...but I'm trying to determine which "traditions" to eliminate....

Years ago, I became great friends with a girl in my class. Without explanation, she pulled away and we drifted apart. Now we don't speak at all. For a long time, I felt terrible and blamed myself. I took the opportunity to take a look at myself and the contributions I made/failed to make to the friendship, and I know that the problem wasn't all me, but I still feel hurt when I think about it. Our husbands got along really well, and she was really my only good friend.

I recently found out she's pregnant and due just a few weeks after me (they're the first for us both). I wrote her a card to say congratulations, but I'm wondering if I should just leave her be. I wrote that I'd really like to see her again, but I feel like I come off as desperate. I had attempted to rekindle the friendship a couple of years ago, but she didn't seem interested, so I let it be.

What would you do if you were her? Would you rather just be left alone? I'm afraid of getting hurt again. Thank you.

For example, what happens at a christian wedding, that doesn't happen at a non-christian wedding? what things do they say differently? etc.

My boyfriend and I just broke up days ago and it was basically a mutual split. I love him and to some degree I am still in love with him but a meaningful relationship between the two of us right now is just not possible. He keeps saying we're going to be great friends, best friends, etc. That's great and everything but I still have feelings for him. I'm thinking about staying away from him in the next days and weeks so I have a better chance of getting over him, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not. Based on what I feel, should I accept his friendship proposal or should I cancel the whole thing altogether to protect myself. Your help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Last night we were arguing because my husband was yelling at our 1 year old that it was time to go to sleep. I was mad because he was screaming at him so i went to pick him up and put him to sleep myself but he wouldn't give him to me. We started screaming at each other and i said i would call the cops( i know we shouldn't do that in front of our son and i had no intention whatsoever on actually calling the cops)so he pushed the baby at me and said "you are no better than all of the other ******* women in this world who have kids just so they think they can control everything" wow...that was the most hurtful thing he has ever said to me. It hurt so bad and i want to leave. He said this morning that he didn't mean it but i don't think i can get over that. What would you do if you were in my situation?? i don't have a job right now because i was staying home with our son and collecting unemployment but that ran out last week. Help please!!!!

My son's father lives in California, (my dream hometown). My son is 12 months old. His father has seem him a total of 3 times in his life. All of which I have taken my son to see him. He makes no efforts to try to communicate with me regarding my son. He has never done anything for him in the entire year. I recently went to visit Cali, and it is so beautiful there that I just want to move there. I think that by moving there, he may do more for my son if our distance is closer. I must also add that he has a live-in woman that existed even before I had my son. Even with that, when I come in town, he tries to meet up with me for us to be intimate. I feel that is the only way to get him to see my son when I'm visiting. Is it a good idea for me to relocate so I can bring the two of them closer?

All the woman do is nag. She orders my brothers and I to do this and that all the time. She only does it when my Father be at work. I don't mind doing housechores, but her lazy behind can do some work, too. She's a heavyset woman, so she uses her weight as an excuse not to do anything. Yet, she eats like a hog. Sometimes, it don't be any food left. Another thing I don't like she's nicer to her irresponsible daughter. she let her daughter, her boyfriend, and their 3 kids come live with us until they find a place to stay. Without asking my Father. Her boyfriend stayed in the streets all day without looking for a job, and my step sister always have me or my step mom to watch the kids while she be in the steet. My step mom be complaining that her back hurt, and she gonna tell her daughter to leave. Then when my step sister comes back(late) my step mom don't mention her getting the boot. How can I let my step mom know what kind of person she is without making her upset?

I don't think there is anything wrong in wanting my man to make as much or more money than me.... I know money is not the most important element in a relationship but it's the no 1. cause of divorce. Go figure.....

Different people have different beliefs about dying, death and the afterlife.

My grandmother passed away last week. My family was standing in the room around her bed. My uncle opened the window because it was hot in there. When he did, a huge gust of wind came into the room, blew up the ceiling tiles, swirled around and she died. Was it my grandfather coming for her?

Do you think we just die and that it? Or do you think we see all our lost loved ones in heaven?

What do you think?

So on Tuesday this guy I like was supposed to come visit me.
We live about an hour apart, and he had a meeting in my neighborhood.

Well starting on Saturday is when he said he was gonna come see me. At 4pm which is when I get off work.
Sunday he had to work til 8pm and it was his moms birthday. He called me at 9pm…I was out at the movies and didn’t get out til midnight, so I never got to return his call.
Then all day Monday I tried to get ahold of him…he ignored my texts and phone calls. Then called me at like 8pm. I was hanging with some friends…so he said call me when you are not busy. I didn’t care about being on the phone, I rather talk to him then hang with some of my friends. So when I called him later he didn’t answer nor did he return my phone call. But he said he was still coming to see me Tuesday before we hung up. Then Tuesday came…I didn’t hear from him. It was like 4:30 when I told him he needs to get a hold of me or I am going to move on.

I'm in study hall right now so I have to hurry this question. We only have a half day of school today. After school today, my friends and I are going to see Shrek 3 at 12:15. School does not get out until about 11:55, and it's about a 10-15 minute walk. My friends all brought a change of clothes, I did not. After the movie, we are going bowling with some guys from school, and then to one of the guys' house. So, should I still go out with my friends even though I will have to wear my school uniform?

For some reason when 2 girls snog at a club you can see the eyes popping out of every male's head.

My friend and I get a fair amount of male attention but she wants to us to kiss to draw even more looks. I have no problem with this as she is attractive.

Why do males like this so much?
Should I do it for the attention?

How can I deal with a husband that wont let me make decisions??? He feels that he needs to control EVERY thing in and out of our home. I'm not able to even pick out paint colors. I have 2 flower beds, without any flowers because he says that we don't need them. He wants to plant grass seed instead. We were talking about someday remodeling the kitchen. He already has it all planned out, and its not something that I want. What should I do? I could go on and on, but I won't. Dont say to go ahead and do this stuff on my own, because he also controls the money. I have a small part time job, just to get gas money and occasionally take our daughter to do something fun. Any ideas???

I have an ex who i became very dependent on. We broke up and the relationship became very unhealthy. Essentially I would cave to her every demand and I am clearly codependent. Anyway I have been working through it and am getting better, and in time I should be able to have healthy relationships. Do you think I could be friends with this person again if I learn to control my behaviours?
