You can't. An important life lesson that we all have to learn is that we can't please everyone. Sometimes, we have to do or say things that may make someone mad. What you need to do is find a way to say it that is not snotty or bratty, give him your reasons and stand your ground. How he reacts is his choice. He is the one who chooses to get mad, not you. You never want to be obnoxious or bratty about things, but when we stop worrying about trying to please everyone, then life will be better.

It really is up to your folks, but hopefully they will be open-minded enough to hear your opinion. It might depend on how old you are or how far away your dad is. Can you talk to both parents at the same time? See if your wants can be met even if you are at your dad's. be willing to comprimise. ultimately your parents want you to be happy.
