i built this PC in feb 2007 .
pentium D820 ( 2.8 Ghz )
intel 865 chipset mobo with extreme graphics 2
512 DDR 1 RAM ( going to upgrade to 1024 soon )
80 GB hard disk
18 X DVD writer
6 USB ports .
i do not game . i live in india and this PC is assembled . the same is being sold by HP Compaq today for $ 925 in india ( without UPS and speakers ) . so you can understand the price PC is here . i use cracked XP ( VLK ) . i plan to buy new licensed XP in next 6 months and if it is not distributed any more then stay with the crack version .... rate it 1 - 10 not by strictly USA standards where a Nvidia 6800 graphics card is considered obsolete but generally ......( in car terms a satisfying car is not a shelby corvette but a honda accord ; in those parameters )

Please help, if you can.

I've never run into a problem like this before and everyone I've talked to has no clue what the heck is going on. Whenever I try to watch ANY video media on my computer OTHER THAN flash, (like what is found on sites like youtube.com), my computer slows down to a snail's pace, the screen turns completely black for a slow second, flashes back to "normal" and everything remains painfully slow until the computer basically needs to be emergency rebooted.

This means that I cannot watch dvds, windows media files, anything at all, (other than the stuff on youtube, of course, and other flash format videos), or edit home-made video clips, of course, without a repeat of what I've mentioned.

I should mention, also, that we just had a new hard-drive installed and we hoped that the old system had something to do with what was was happening. No such luck. We had the same problem with viewing videos/dvds before the new hard drive AND now, after.

Thank you!

My computer was acting up so I tried to do a system restore, but when it was restarting, it never fully started up. It just went to a black screen. So I started my comptuer in safe mode and used Mcafee Virusscan and it removed 9 viruses so I tried to restart my computer and it wouldn't get past the Windows XP screen with the green bars running through, and I've tried system restore a bunch of times and starting it in safe mode, normally, and all the other choices they give when I press f8, but it still won't go past a black screen or the windows XP loading page. Help! I don't know what I did and how to fix it.

I had a desktop hooked directly to DSL.... I am moving the Desktop computer to another room that doesnt have a phone jack.

Can I have the DSL hooked to a router in the original room and then have the Desktop computer running wireless DSL in the other room.

In other words, when I hook the DSL into the router, does it have to be hooked into another computer in the same room?

Although technically not "supported", does it work?

I built a system for someone last christmas with a nforce chipset. The bridge came with the motherboard. They made it clear not to loose it or I was SOL for SLI. With crossfire you get a bridge with the card(at least with some of them). So if you bought a 680i board and two 2900xt cards... What else do you have to do?

It can and has been done:

http://www.techpowerup.com/index.php?39252

Why bother? Because the 2900xt is $140 cheaper than a 8800GTX. That is $280 when you buy two. After much research the nVidia 680i is the best motherboard chipset out for the core2, and after further research I do not see a $140 performance difference between an 8800GTX. In fact in some areas the 2900xt is much faster.

Not only that it would share the wealth to all three companies: Intel, AMD/ATI, and nVidia. No one would get hurt feelings and you'd be loyal to all three! Everyone is a winner. Just like kindergarten again! LOL!

Can i simply use a vacuum cleaner and a small nozzle fixed onto the long hose of the vacuum cleaner to clean my desktop CPU fan and heatsink? Setting the suction power to lowest to prevent damage of parts.

There's a lot of dust accumulated on the heatsink and i wish to clear them up. And i dont have compressed air at home. So i am still wondering if i can use a vacuum cleaner instead. I will place my motor unit of the vacuum cleaner far away from the PC to prevent static electricity discharge and the electromagnetic field generated by the motor.

Can i do it this way? Thanks to anyone who knows and helps... =)
