I purchased an Athlon 64 3000+?

I purchased an Athlon 64 3000+ showing 1.8Ghz ..I showed it to my friend.His Pentium 4 purchased 2 years ago is at 2.4Ghz.He is saying his PC is more powerful than myne.Is it true??

twice a week the bios reset. i've changed the batery (3 times). but stilllike clock work, is the bios chip dieing or is it something elese.

It turns on, but nothing else happens. i've tried a new screen, and resetting the switch. doesnt help. the computer doesnt even beep when it starts. i dont want to open it up yet incase i make it worse. (if thats possible...)

i want to build a pc, but i am only 15. i know alot about computers, and i calculated for gaming and things like this i would save about 500$ to build my own pc, and the cheaper custom built one would be better. is it very hard to build one if i have all the aprts?? how long would it take??

when i buy nVIDIA card is fixed because i thing this card is batter for me play a game but after i use for 2 month.when i play a game today after 10 min my screen become like black and white stripe after i exit to window every thing become like normal what the problem actualy

I have an Omni-tech desktop. 256mb R.A.M. and a Pentium !!! processor which top speed clocks out at 600MHz. I was wondering, could I replace the 600MHz P3 with a 700MHz or maybe a 933MHz P3? I'm also thinking about upgrading to 512mb of R.A.M. So no one has to mention how little of R.A.M. I have.

Right now i have a HP Pavilion a1230n with an Integrated ATI Xpress 200 Graphics. It has a 3700+ AMD Anthlon 64 Prcessor with 1.0 GB memory and 200 GB Hard Drive. I want to get a new graphics card or video card I don't know what is the difference. I play counter strike source and i get like 20-40 FPS on high settings and 40-80 on low settings. i wanna be able to get around 100 FPS on high settings. What kind of chipset should i get.

I am running MS Windows Server 2003 64 Bit system
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+
512 MB Ram
G-Force 5500 Graphics Card

The "Computer Guy" where i bought this thing says this 64 bit system is faster and better for gaming and other 3D applications,of which i have a lot of...maybe so,but he failed to tell me (or he didn't know) that i cant use my web-cam,i can't use my printer,i cant use my Digital Camera, and i can't use some of the 3D software i like to use.

He says he can "put it back" to 32 Bit system if i buy the disk.

My Question is "Should i have that done, or just get another PC and sell this one to yet another unsuspecting gamer.(like he suggested).

I have a P4 2.40GHz 40GB 512MB computer.

The problem occurs during installation.

I tried installing windows xp pro (legit), some errors occurs about 30% of the installation. Sometimes it cannot read the disk. I tried replacing the HDD, memory, CDROM and even copied the installer to a new disk that worked in other computer but same thing happens.

I tried intalling ubuntu and takes more than 1 hour just to be on the 3 step of the installation.

In other words, I cannot install any operating system on it.

Is there a software that can detect the memory, HDD, motherboard, and other stuffs prior to installation?

Ok I already have a case for my computer. BUT it has holes on the side to show off the very pretty, but totally usless blue lcd lights inside. I have had some temp problems and I think that the fans I have in the front and back aren't getting rid of the hot air cuz those holes don't allow a vacuum effect (my own theory). I have heard of cases that are airtight and can keep a computer really cool (like a refrigerator). but I can't find anything. So I need some help. Anything I can do to cool this thing down?
Here is some Info:
I have a dual core amd 930 X2. 3G Ram. A evga 6800 GS PCI express vid card.
I really don't want water cooling!!!
Please help me out here guys. Thanks.

Hi,

I have a Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE and want to upgrade to the Geforce 8600 GTS.......i know i can because i have the PCIx16 slot, but wherever i look to buy one it always has a name in front of it before it says Nvidia....like it will say XFX Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS or PNY VERTO Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS.......what does this mean? i think that it means that it is overclocked? The only problem is i have a Dell and i know that they dont let you overclock the CPU, but im not sure about overclocking of the video card? Also if i cant get an overlclocked one, could you tell me where i can buy a regular one?

The fans in my cabinet (there r 2 fans and my cabinet is of the sliimmer type than regular sized ones) make a lot of noise. Its particularly felt when its more quiet like in the night. The noise has been right since the beginning i brought my PC. My comp enginner tells me that since there r 2 fans;so the noise and the solution he suggests is that i go for a regular sized cabinet where theres just 1 fan. Will changing the cabinet solve the problem and can i reduce the noise somehow without changing the cabinet.

Hello community and thanks to all who respond! I have a question about the sleep mode on my computer. Whenever my computer goes into sleep mode whether it be manual or set, it doesn't stay there. What I mean is I'll set it into sleep and without touching the enter key or mouse it starts back up by itself. My old computer never did this but this new one does it all the time. Why or what would cause the computer to come out of the sleep mode without touching anything on or around the keyboard? All responses appreciated!

My pc shuts down automatically and reboots itself, when I'm connected to the internet. I lose everything I'm doing at the time. I then have to reconnect to the internet and start over. Is this a fan problem? The room temp is always around 70 degrees. This is a constant problem.
