i want to build a pc, but i am only 15. i know alot about computers, and i calculated for gaming and things like this i would save about 500$ to build my own pc, and the cheaper custom built one would be better. is it very hard to build one if i have all the aprts?? how long would it take??

First time is very challenging, 2nd time is easy and third time is a walk in the park. There are some useful guides here, especially the old articles:

Go back to home page to get to Part 2.

It can be very easy... Unforunately if something goes wrong like one of the parts you've purchases no working, than it can be hard to isolate yourself which part it is if you don't have spares or experience.

A good compromise if you've not had experience with say troubleshooting hardware, whould be to buy all the parts from the same supplier and pay them to assemble it and make sure it boots up(normally done without an OS so they just make sure the BIOS screen comes up without an error). This can save you some headache an often costs are quite reasonable.

I build my own but I didn't start outright at building. I watched others build first and asked questions. Now I'm a semipro at it.. If you know what you are doing, It takes about 2-6 hours to build, depending on hardware. You don't need to shop ebay or newegg. The best places are http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.ditcorp.com they have all the parts you need at cheap prices.

$500 is a decent amount of pocket change for a build-your-own. you can get a pretty decent one for that price. i highly suggest www.newegg.com for your parts, or even ebay. do your homework on what motherboard uses which memory and processor, etc.

i just finished my second build. its a lot of fun and you feel accomplished when you're up and running!
