I'm having alot of pc problems and someone suggested I re-install my XP Pro. However, I've lost the disc. The pc is a Dell and came with XP Pro loaded, but I'm sure they sent the disc but I have no idea where it is, after two years now. Can I download it from online somewhere?

ACK! My computer is acting horrible. It runs terribly slow, won't go to pages I want to click on, and just generally makes me want to toss it and buy a new one if I had the money. This is only two years old. It is a Dell, that came from the factory with XP Pro installed. It worked beautifully for a year and a half, but has been going down the tubes for months now. Is a system restore the answer? Is there any way to get this baby back working smoothly again? this is the family computer and it's driving us all nuts. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm thinking of picking something up, maybe under $200, so that the family and I can learn to use the Mac. What brand/model/etc should I be looking for at a used computer store or online that will be about as modern as possible within that price range?

I've been spending some time looking on newegg, thinking about building a new system. I picked myself out a nice processor, and some ram. but when i looked for a motherboard i ran across a problem common to nearly every company. Now, at this stage of technology, any decent gaming rig will require a graphics card that takes up 2 slots, so why do the high end motherboard manufacturers put the PCI slots right next to the PCIe slots!!! yeah, the mobo has 3 PCI, but 2 of them are covered by the HS on the GPU.

Hey guys, I have a question. I'm a big noob when it comes to computers... Is having a AMD Anthlom 64 X2 DUAL core processor 3800+ *speed 2.0 GHZ*, 3.00GB of RAM good enough to make my 2.0 GHZ speed irrelevant? I'm not sure if the speed will make a big difference, I know it's not the best hehe.

Thanks in advance.

I'm debating between a computer with an AMDAthlon 64 X2, 5200+; or an Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 / 2.13 GHz. If I am going to be doing some average gaming and also a bit of video and music of course, which one should I get? I dont want to get the Intel and later realize its going to suck for gaming, or whatever else its for. I heard AMD's are good for gaming, but whats really going on?
If I get the AMD am I going to be disappointed I didn't get the Intel? The debate is between these two particular processors only.

I would like to build a new computer to replace aging system that is also experiencing intermittent lockups (haven't been able to troubleshoot it but believe it to be hardware related rather than OS). What I'm looking for is people who have used motherboards from several manufacturers and have a favorite that they would use for their next system. In addition to being able to support this processor, I'd like the board to also support the following:

- minimum 4GB RAM (dual channel, DDR-2 800)
- 2 x PCI Express x16 w/ SLI support
- SATA 3.0 Gb/s
- at least one IDE port
- minimum 4 USB 2.0 ports
- on board audio
- on board 10/100/1000 Ethernet
- ATX form factor

Optionally, I'd like the following support too:
- hardware RAID 0,1
- compatible with Linux and/or Solaris x86 (on board network usually a driver issue)
- support more than just the CPU fan speed monitoring

Please avoid providing just a benchmark link unless backing up a statement. (I can find plenty of those on my own) Thanks

Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I am interested in a computer featuring an AMD 5000+ processor, i want a good video card, also a 500gb hard drive and 2gigs of ram. A TV Tuner would be a bonus. I noticed the HP package that I want is $1100 without a monitor; but the Dell package that comes with a 20" monitor is only $1049. Why is that?
