I know that most of you would say to get a pentium d, but my motherboard is an asrock p4i65gv which can support HTT but cant run pentium d. So should i get the pentium 4 which can already run, or should I get a new motherboard which can run pentium d and the pentium d cpu?

Through the help of other yahoo answerers, I have discovered that a 8800 gtx requires at least a 450 watt power supply, and that a 8800 gts 640mgb requires at least 400 watts. I cannot find how much power an 8800 gts 320mgb requires. I have a 375 watt power supply so I am really close. Does anyone know? thx

I currently have a HP SlimLine s7627c and it has a AM2 Windsor Athlon 64 X2 3800+. I purchased a Brisbane AM2 Athlon 64 X2 4800+ and I put it into the computer. Everything is put in correctly and this is the 2nd CPU I have tried. Here is a link to the HP specifications:

However, the problem is that the computer refuses to boot. It will go through the Windows loading screen as soon as the log in screen should come on, it turns off. I cannot run Live Windows XP either or Linux. I can run certain programs like recovery and partition magic. I have tried reinstalling Windows, and everything is fine until it restarts and needs to get into "Windows".

This question involves quite a lot of experience and expertise. Please do not post up amateur answers.

Just got a HP TouchSmart PC and it comes with a built in Web cam only there is no infor about it except that you have to have a messenger that allows you to use it. Now I have gotten the web cam to work one time, but I can't get it to work any more. Has anyone ever had this problem and were you abole to fix it?? How did you fix it??

When my HP Pavilion computer loads Windows ME/XP about less then a minute the monitor will go off. I have tried different monitors and replaced and repositioned the graphics card with a new one and still the same problem. What is going on??

I have a P4 2.8 HT, 1 GB ram and a 64Mb ATI all in wonder 7500. Plenty of HD space. I'm willing to upgrade the vid card to a Radeon X1600 (agp) and adding another 512mb of ram. Will this improve my pc performance?

I'm a graphic designer and usually work with Corel Draw, Fireworks, Photoshop, Flash, etc. I'm not willing to upgrade the micro or the mobo.

No guessing please.

My desktop shut down while I was using it and won't start back up. I opened it and it was pretty warm. I'm thinking that my power supply burned out, but I'm worried that other damage was caused? Anyone have this happen to them? It had been making funny noises that last few weeks, but had recently stopped.

I've just replaced the power supply in my Gateway (420GR) due to a bad fan in the otherwise working old supply. With the new supply, the fans only spin-on (all case, cpu, and ps fans) only when the P4 connector is not attached. (the keyboard lights go on for a second as on reboot but then the mouse and keyboard show no life) When the P4 connector is attached, the fans begin to spin (for a very small moment) and then stop. In neither case does the system seem to boot.

This behavior is experienced with both the new power supply and the ond supply, but only after the old supply was re-installed. Before the supply upgrade, there were no issues with the system.

Does anyone have any idea what could be the cause of this issue?

I have a Compaq Presario 5000 series. I have 256MB of RAM right now. I want to upgrade my RAM to 512MB. I called the Compaq/HP company and they were useless. What I want to know is, can I get RAM for this PC? If it makes a difference it is SDRAM, any answers will help.

Yes, still using them (at work). I recently had trouble getting the files off of one because the metal thing is bent on one side, and has loosened up a bit. Any idea on how to retrieve those files? I was able to force it in the drive, but it was asking me to reformat which I believe will erase the files. Please help!
