Quite a few of my friends leave theirs on- I myself shut it off EVERY time I am done using it and when there is lightning I also unplug it because mine was hit by lightning once!So I don't know if shutting it off every time is right or good for it but I do it, but for an extended period of time I would say yeah shut it off and maybe even un-plug it for safety!

1.Saves power
2.Less likely to get a virus
3.Computer will run faster than if you left it on for 6 days straight.
4.You dont want to over heat it, or anything. Everything needs a break once in a while. I even shut my phone off at night.

I would leave it on all night. You save a lot of time, energy and patience in the morning. It's better to get up grab the coffee and start gaming immediately. Actually you should get a laptop and coffee maker and then leave it on a side table next to your pillow so you will be all set the minute you open your eyes, no precious energy waisted. :P

If you not going to use for 2 weeks or longer, then put it in box big enough to hold it and put it in a cool, dry place. If not, turn it off or put in Standby. I recommend the latter for short periods(like 1 day or so).
