The answers I've read so far are good one's though I'd say if you know how to dis-assemble a pc open up the side and take out the ram and look at it but if you aren't willing to do that then I'd suggest what one of the others suggested either download one of the suggested programs or take it to someone who could tell you :)

On Crucial's website (link in the first response) they've got two memory configurators. One can tell you, by scanning your system, what's installed, what you can install, and other things you should know. The other, in which you manually identify your manufacturer and model, might not know what's installed but can tell you the rest of the info.

If you buy memory online, you'll find that many of these vendors can recommend the right memory for your computer. All you need to know is the manufacturer and the model number.

There are fairly 3 varieties of RAM innovations on your gadget, DDR a million, 2, or 3. i think of that your gadget, being outfitted in 2004, probable takes DDR3, however the only thank you to make certain is to easily take the RAM stick out that is in it, take it into the keep, and have them make certain that it will artwork. fairly as long simply by fact the slots are an identical, it is going to artwork. you may only flow to a optimal of two gigs on that distinctive gadget, so which you would be desirous to substitute the only 512 card with 2 a million giggers. RAM from the AGP-era platforms is extra costly (as is each and every thing else AGP), you would be finding at approximately $50 Canadian consistent with a million gig card on that distinctive computing device. i be conscious of this simply by fact I purely replaced the RAM on my own HP Pavilion (750n) of comparable age and specs a month in the past. And once you're taking the RAM out, make certain you have an electrostatic wristband on with a view to evade shifting a spark. donning the band, purely push on the little levers at the two end of the RAM card, which will pop the cardboard loose, you may pull it out and take it in. The RAM is extremely undemanding to locate on your tower, that's the long skinny card on the motherboard, and there ought to be an same slot acceptable beside it that is empty on yours. in case you're uncertain, purely google "ram card" or "ram stick"+image and you'd be waiting to work out what it feels like. wish this facilitates.
