I have a Compaq Presario 5000 series. I have 256MB of RAM right now. I want to upgrade my RAM to 512MB. I called the Compaq/HP company and they were useless. What I want to know is, can I get RAM for this PC? If it makes a difference it is SDRAM, any answers will help.

Thanks,

Morlak

Crucial.com gives a scan of your system and tells you what memory options you have. They have free delivery too. See link below.
If you don't want to buy online then it will at least tell you what you need.

You will have to pull the exact model number from your system and see what type of RAM it takes. You can use HP's website http://www.hp.com or (suggested) use the Crucial Memory Advisor (top right corner of the page) http://www.crucial.com/index.asp?gclid=CI7yuM6P-IsCFRI7ZQodujZNUw

Try TigerDirect.com, they'll tell you what you can get for your computer. If I were you, I'd get a lot more than you're talking about. Ram is cheap.

www.kingston.com also has data on all PC brands/models, and can tell you what memory you need. Don't buy from them tho - their memory is expensive. I'd buy from www.tigerdirect.com
