Through the help of other yahoo answerers, I have discovered that a 8800 gtx requires at least a 450 watt power supply, and that a 8800 gts 640mgb requires at least 400 watts. I cannot find how much power an 8800 gts 320mgb requires. I have a 375 watt power supply so I am really close. Does anyone know? thx

These are eVGA's Requirements
Minimum of a 400 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 26 Amp Amps.)

The eVGA 8600 GT Requirements are
Minimum of a 350 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 22 Amp Amps.)
Minimum 400 Watt for SLI mode system.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 24 Amp
This still a decent card.

The 8800GTS 320Mb consumes 103watts (card only). I bet your 375W PSU will not be able to power it. If it can, it will run HOT, its +12V rail will be severely stressed and the caps will be pregnant in no time at all. Many old power supplies are weak on the +12V rail.

Do not settle for the minimum PSU requirement. They will just run hot. Get a higher rated one. PSUs with 80% or less load run cooler and last longer.

Nvidia recommends a minimum PSU of 450 watts with two 4-pin connectors for ATX12V.
