I'm thinking of picking something up, maybe under $200, so that the family and I can learn to use the Mac. What brand/model/etc should I be looking for at a used computer store or online that will be about as modern as possible within that price range?

This Mac will not be for daily use. It will be for toying with and learning. We already have 4 PC's, two laptops, and a server in our house.

You wont find one in that price range, not even a refurbished one. I would suggest going to a RENT-A-Center and rent one.

Try to get a g4 emac or an old ibook g3. You can find them on craigslist. The original imacs are very cheap used but not that useful.
