cpu-z tells me that my core speed is 1.6 and sometimes it goes up to 2.4... What's happening? is this normal?

The Core 2 Duo line has Intel Enhanced Speed Step and will regulate the CPU speed based on load. This saves power and generates less heat.

I also have a Core 2 Duo E6600 and its speed will go as low as 1.6GHz and the max is 2.4GHz.
