ACK! My computer is acting horrible. It runs terribly slow, won't go to pages I want to click on, and just generally makes me want to toss it and buy a new one if I had the money. This is only two years old. It is a Dell, that came from the factory with XP Pro installed. It worked beautifully for a year and a half, but has been going down the tubes for months now. Is a system restore the answer? Is there any way to get this baby back working smoothly again? this is the family computer and it's driving us all nuts. Thanks in advance for any help.

There are several primary areas that could be causing your computer to run slow. The most likely reason is that Corruption within your registry keys, registry classes, and registry settings, you have too many programs running behind the scenes and your system is essentially running in circles with its internal processing.
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. To clean the junk and then speed up your computer, you will need to run a self diagnostic program called regsitry cleaner. This program is very very useful,it can fix regsitry errors, clean registry remnant, corrupt files and temp files in a few minutes. Then give you a bran-new and high-speed computer. It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more! You can find top 5 registry cleaner here:

Your system could just need to be cleaned up to perform again.

1. Clean out all temp files from the system. A program to help you with this would be ccleaner.com.
2. Once you have cleaned out the system you would need to defrag it. To do this right click my computer and go to manage then you will see something call disk defragmenter just click on the defragment button.

Once you have done this you should see some performance increase in the system. I always tell people that a system restore is the very last resort.

System Restore might help. Depending on how far back you can restore it to. Restore it as far back as you can, and things should go more smoothly for your computer.
