AMD Athlon processors are as good as (or rather slightly better) than the Intel Pentium ones. However, the most recent processor to be released, the Intel Core 2 Duo beats all in performance. It costs more, but I will still recommend it if you can afford it.

The AMD Phenom Processor is plenty extra effective then the Pentium 4. you're comparing a clean chip shape with one that became fairly discontinued in 2005. considering that then Intel has got here out with the Pentium D, middle Duo, middle 2 Duo, middle 2 Quad (and severe variations of each and every). whilst the AMD Phenom chip is stunning the Intel equivalent is a extra robust. whilst the Phenom is presented in 2 and 3 cores, intel's lineup (middle 2 duo, and middle 2 quad) furnish notably extra effective overall performance, even whilst using the cost to velocity ratio. The link below demonstrates this.

AMD 64 is better than Pentium 4 in games but it is the reverse in other applications like video encoding. But nothing beats Core2 Duo.

I am not sure about the new Duo Core processors from Intel but previously, I know that AMD processors were better that Pentium processors in that they run cooler and perform better.
This is just my 2 cents worth.

Hi, well my friend first of all ur processor selection should totally depend on the type of work ur goin to do.
To me AMD r the best processors for gaming and 3d and graphical works. well if ur goin for something else like setting up server or some serious server programming stuff like using some database servers u should go for INTEL processors. AMDs are also good for home entertainment. well i u have enough bucks to spend i bet u should go for AMD 64FX 72 processors. they are bit costly but really worth the money

pentuim by far is the better choice of most people and the reason why is because they don't under stand what AMD equals to for a pentuim 1,2,3,4 like a pentuim is about 166mhz a p2 is about 333 mhz and so on. if it was broken down in amd like that people would know.
