You might be overheating, or your power supply might be going bad. Download and run SpeedFan to check your temperatures and voltages first.

Hi!
When a computer restarts on it's own, there are a lot of possable causes. When it restarts, do you get any error messages? If so, read over the message carefully, for it could have some usefull information as to why your computer is doing what it is. If there are no error messages, the easiest thing to do would be to open up the computer (unplugged), take compressed air and blow it into the case and fans. Most people don't know it, but it is reccomended that the case is opened up and compressed air is blown into it about once a year. If this doesn't solve your problem, if you can, swap the power supply with one that you know is good. If you can, try to find one with the same specs. If not, never put in one that produces less power. Using one that can produce more won't hurt the computer, because it only produces what it needs to, to run the computer. If this doesn't work, then the problem could be a little more involved. You can go to my website that lists my contact information and provides a free chat with me. My website and free chat links are listed below.
Good Luck!

Sometimes it's just a software problem. A conflict that is happening. You can go ahead and try to run an update (http://www.update.microsoft.com/). Check which program you are working on when the problem occurs maybe there are two programs that are making a conflict and causing your pc to restart. If the problem continues try system restore. You can use System Restore to remove any system changes that were made since the last time you remember your computer working correctly. System Restore does not affect your personal data files so you won't lose changes made to these files.
Through the All Programs menu:
1.Click Start.
2.Point to All Programs.
3.Point to Accessories.
4.Point to System Tools.
5.Click System Restore.
6.Follow the instructions on the wizard

If you mean that your "computer" is shutting down, then this sounds like a heat problem. Take the side off of your tower and check the cpu heat sink and fan assembly. Also, while you have the side off of the machine you should make sure that all dust and dirt is removed from the inside of the tower. You can use caned air to remove most of the dist, but it may be necessary to use a small brush to clean the fans. After the cleaning, start the system to make sure that all the fans are turning, even the one in the power supply.

That was happening to my HP laptop after I upgraded the RAM. It was a bad ram chip. Whenever I went on line, it would restart. I suppose when it got memory intensive that is when it would happen.
I also had a Gateway tower that would shut down, but NOT restart. That was a bad CPU fan. It was overheating. It would shut down faster and faster, as it got hotter with no cool down period, until it would not start at all until it cooled for a few minutes.
Hope this helps.

This is mainly because of your room temperature and the speed of your fan comparing with u'r room temp' is not adequate try shifting u'r room to a cooler room or install an A/C
One more thing i think is that some realtime windows service file might have been damaged u better press ctrl+alt+del and check the processes running look out for system idle process and system process because some times pc's might shut down because of the termination of these processes

your main problem is that you are using an HP =/ Theyre known to have problems. If you cant fix it, and I assume HP tech support is of no help, I'd consider a new brand.

What causes that is:
Trojan virus, video card is going bad, processor over heated, installing software or driver do not work with the system, installing hardware doesn't work with the system.
so pick one.

try using mozilla instead of internet exploder. also, are you getting blue screens? if so, you have to analyze the logfile to see if it's a hardware or driver issue or whatever. check your event log (administrative tools) to see if you can obtain more information.
