How much faster do I need to get? What
about the RAM?

I have a fish screen saver a Nautica. It works
best if I minimize performance characteristics,
just bare bones SS without enhancing graphics a
lot.

Now, someday I may be able to use my favorite
player again(Winamp), and I like to watch
visualization.

I don't play any games, unless they are graphically
primitive online games.

Thanks for any enlightenment. I have a
Compaq Presario.

She's left me a message on ansaphone saying she presses the button for the pc to start.. and it powers up.. and looks like it will boot up.. but doesn't, and screen remains dark - it doesn't go to the XP welcome/account screen.

(Hmm its just occured to me I best check the cable monitor hasn't come out of back of pc or monitor itself)

Any suggestions really welcome so I can go prepared with some things to try ? Thanks. :)

My younger brother custom built my PC and first I would like to know if Vista will run smoothly on it, the spec is:

Intel Pentium 4 Processor Supporting Hyper-Threading Technology, Processor speed 3.8GHz

350GB Sata Hard Drive

1024 MB DDR Memory

eVGA GeForce 8800 GTX Video Card

Also I would like to know if many programs will run of Vista such as Bullguard security? Or if Vista will have built in security features? Thank you.

I have a computer that is failing to turn on, bought a new PSU and still have the same problem (a nice new 580watt that came in today), I even went to tinkering with the front panel connector and no luck. I took the front panel off at one point and inspected the said power switch from the other side and had no luck finding anything wrong. Pulled out the RAM and everything looks fine, just a little dusty. Is there anything that could be preventing it from turning on? Is it a possibility that the case power on switch died and is showing no wear? Or could maybe the mobo have died without showing any signs of malfunction? There's no weird smells.

I got a Maxtor 200GB 6L200PO to replace my old IBM 20GB Deskstar. I used the MaxBlast 4 utility to format the drive and copy my old IBM drive data over. Everything goes fine until I attempt to boot. WinXP begins to load and then I get a quick blue screen that quickly goes black and then the system reboots. I can't even see what the error is it goes by that fast.

I've tried setting the drive partition to only 130GB in case WinXP is having issues with the drive size, but same result. I've even tried reinstalling WinXP from scratch on the new drive and everything is fine until I begin loading Updates.

Have also run Memtest and CPU Stress just in case they were the problem but everything is clean. I even tried a new Mobo.

HELP! Any ideas?

Hi there. I bought a Silenx Ixtrema pro (at 28-32 CFM, with a dba of 14) and I would of thoguht that would of quieted it down a little. My computer is as loud as ever, And I think it even got a little warmer (the case it hot when I touch it after a while)
This CFM Rating is probabily much lower than what the label says it is.

The power supply is the culprit. The model is a cheifmax 550 and it just wont quiet down. I was thinking that I could use the new fan as the power supply fan, because I read somewhere that power supplies use standard fans.

What can I do to make my power supply shut up?

PC: And, Hi, I'm a PC

PC: Say Mac, we can't really tell who people find more attractive. Your flashy graphic design features, or my sophisticated programming capabilities.

Mac: I bet people find us equally attractive, PC.

PC: Oh really, do you want me to take this to Yahoo! Answers?

Mac: I doubt we have to go that far, PC
