There is a recommendation to use KiB (kibibyte), MiB (mebibyte), GiB (gibibyte), etc. when you mean powers of two and use the SI prefixes to mean powers of ten.
1 KB is 10^3 bytes (1,000)
1 MB is 10^6 bytes (1,000,000)
1 GB is 10^9 bytes (1,000,000,000)
1 KiB is 2^10 bytes (1,024)
1 MiB is 2^20 bytes (1,048,576)
1 GiB is 2^30 bytes (1,073,741,824)
