Your spec should suuport Vista but at the moment there is a lpt of hardware and software which is not fully compatible. My personal view is I never install a new O/S until at least one service pack has been released to remove the bugs, and drivers are available for all the hardware. Hope this helps.

Ofcourse your PC will run vista smoothly,it's an excellent PC with very good specifications.
As for your second question, vista has some stupid security features built in it,but it can be disabled,it's just gonna take you some time to figure things out.
Bottom Line: As for myself,i'm waiting a year or so before installing it,waiting for fixes, service packs and user guides to be available, but install it only if you know what you are doing.
Hope this helps.

I have always been told to NEVER upgrade. My laptop is also Vista compatiable. They sent me the upgrade discs for free. They are still in the package. I don't wanna use them becuase once you change the hard drive, you can't go back. Also, if you have games that are older, they might not run on Vista. Stick with XP. Wait until all the kinks are out of Vista.

Your computer will run it well enough due to your awesome graphics card. The only room for big improvement is another gig of RAM. Vista recommends at least 2 gigs.
I havent had problems running any of my programs I use in Vista. Its pretty compatible with everything out there. Vista has built in security called Windows Defender, but, its nothing special. You definatley want your own security software.
You'll love Vista like I do :D

Leave XP Pro installed, and just install Vista to a partitioned drive.
There is a free tool available on the net that will determine if your system is compatible with Vista, before you even attempt the install.
Download it here..............
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx
If this tool makes the determination that you are good for a Vista install, then, by all means, put the new operating system on a partitioned drive. That way, if for some reason, you don't find Vista to be to your likings, you can just delete it, while still having XP Pro to fall back on.
There are programs out there that can easily take care of the task of partitioning your drive. I suggest using "Partition Magic", now known as "Norton PartitionMagic".
Get it here......................
http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/products/overview.jsp?pcid=sp&pvid=pm80
You can use "Windows" built-in feature to accomplish the task of partitioning the hard-drive as well, although it's not as user-freindly as the other program I've mentioned.

Dude, no...stay as far away from Vista as you can. That program is nowhere near being ready enough to be compatible with all of the other programs that we are used to using with XP. If you're insistent, have your brother do a perforation installation and put both Vista and XP on your puter.

DON'T DO IT!!
Vista sucks and is full of bugs! Get it in a year or so when most of the problems have been worked out of it!
