Isn't the Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 64-bit? So how come in my system type it says 32-bit? And in my display settings only 16-bit and 32-bit options come up.. thank you

Your processor is 64/32bit capable. But since you are using 32bit OS, it only runs on 32bit. You need a 64bit OS so that your processor can run 64bit mode.

The 16bit and 32bit color quality settings are different. It refers to color depth in bits per pixel.

The chip is capable of performing 64-bit operations, but can only do so with software built to use 64-bit (the Operating System included).

Having a 64-bit CPU means nothing as far as graphics are concerned where the number of bits represents the number of distinct colours that can be represented (and doesn't go beyond 32-bit at present, nor is there much point in it doing so).
