I have a computer that is failing to turn on, bought a new PSU and still have the same problem (a nice new 580watt that came in today), I even went to tinkering with the front panel connector and no luck. I took the front panel off at one point and inspected the said power switch from the other side and had no luck finding anything wrong. Pulled out the RAM and everything looks fine, just a little dusty. Is there anything that could be preventing it from turning on? Is it a possibility that the case power on switch died and is showing no wear? Or could maybe the mobo have died without showing any signs of malfunction? There's no weird smells.

It is possible that the motherboard finally died. Since I notice that youv'e done everything else, the motherboard is the last possible reason, not to sure of the that type of board but I normally use ASUS and Giga Byte boards for my AMD's, one thing that sometimes are forgotten is the Power Supply, majority of them come with an on and off switch, make sure you check that also and if results are still the same, then my only conclusion is the motherboard hope this helps you.

If when u plug power cable into power supply does the case and or cpu fan turn? If so the mobo is getting power. Quite possible that either the mobo is being shorted out by the case as both may be touching. Make sure the mobo are on those golden riser screws and not touching the case itself. Or yes it could be that the dust/wear and tear could have shorted the mobo out.

if you have a multimeter, double check the front power on switch, sometimes they break from the inside, so essentially you may have a broken switch

also, so power supply units have a fuse, check that it is not broken using the multimeter checking for resistance

Is the power supply furning ON ? if not it could be a faulty power supply

ALSO, VERY COMMON PROBLEM
-sometimes people mess with a little switch on the back of the power supply that says somthing like 120/250 V , im not sure, but I think this is specific to what country your in since electricity in US is at 120 V and in Europe is like 250 V

If you mess around with it switch it back to 120 V

hope this helps

btw, if your proccessor died, you should still hear the fans turning on
