I am getting a new computer. Most of the time, I would be using it to surf web, msn with antivirus running in backgrd. Sometimes I would play Warcraft3, Knight Online and I tot, WOW, with this new comp. I also use dreamweaver and photoshop 9.0. I also intend to use it for Windows Skin.

I have 128MB ATI X300SE card also....would 2GB helps to compensate the video card?

Whenever I upload pics my browser freezes and when I open up taskmgr I see that EXPLORER.EXE is at 100%. The only way to make it normal again is to reboot. This only happens when I open a picture file and when I upload pictures. Any idea on how to fix this, as it is VERY annoying!

I have to wonder how much more it is costing me in trying to cool my home, while at the same time my computer is generating heat. Does anyone make a venting system that would make it possible to bring in filter outside air to cycle through the computer, than dump the exhaust back outside? Has anyone ever tried to measure the amount of air being moved through a standard CPU and heated up? I would suspect it is significant and should be considered in trying to keep a home, or business, cool.

I am looking for an all-in-one computer. This would be a cpu, motherboard, usb port, and/in a case. I would just hook my printer/hard drive/dvd burner/monitor to the case/cpu/motherboard. Or will this dvd-writer have compatability issues because of the computer being a Dell? If it will have issues, please explain what kind of technical issues I would run into.

My computer is a Dell, running on Win XP: Professional. If there is anything else you need to know about the specs of my computer, please ask.

I blindly bought a Dell pc about 3 years ago as I didn't know anything about putting a computer together at the time. Now I know a little more putting pc's together, but not enough to answer this question myself. My tech friends have not worked with Dell computers before and so we don't know if my Dell pc will have a fit if I try to add something that isn't from Dell.

I'm building a PC, and everything's hooked up, but I can't turn it on. The DELL case that I'm working on is from '98, and has a 16 pin connector that controls the on/off/sleep functions, and powers the LED. The board I'm working on is an ASUS P4B, and has a 20 pin male power connector thing.

That's the connector on the board. The four x's are labeled PWRBTN. I've tried using pin jumpers from the old motherboard to connect the four pins in every single possible combination, but nothing happens. Yes, the power supply works, I can hear the capacitors charging when I plug it in.

Please show me a way to make the thing think that the power button is on all the time so I just have to unplug it to shut it off.

I came home, turned on my computer and all was happy and content, then we had a thunderstorm that night - I awoke to find this out from neighbors - which knocked out the power. The surge strip looked fine, all the lights were on and nothing seemed to have happened - except the cable modem was blank. I tried resetting the modem and it would turn on all the lights but nothing else. I then tried to start the computer and I pushed the power button, the amber power light went on, fans and drives started and hummed, but then everthing shut down. I tried a couple times with the same result. I opened the computer up and all looked fine, no black marks or funny smells. I thought maybe it was the power suppply so I changed it out with an extra I had, same result of starting and stopping within probably 20 seconds. I figure there's a short somewhere, and I tried different combinations of drives plugged and unplugged but nothing seems to matter. I built the PC myself but Im still a novice.

I just moved, when i went to turn my computer on it won't work, then LED light on the front blinks rapidly as soon as the computer on button is pushed, there is no movement what so ever in the CPU.. Any thoughts? Thx...

What are some advantages and some disadvantages with building your own computer? What type of skills do you need, if any? Time really isn't an issue with me, I'm quite bored these days. need help adding old hard drive to new computer and having new computer recognize it so I can transfer old data onto new computer. I took out the old hard drive. configured the pin settings so it is a slave and then connected it to the new computer. Now the new computer boots up off the old hard drive. It wont recognize the new hard drive. I went into the boot menu to try to get it to boot up with the new hard drive and not the old one but it wont let me. I am pulling my hair out. what to do? can someone walk me through this like I am a 4 year old?

I am trying to save files to my Memorex CD-RW disk and it won't let me. I am trying to save pictures and it gives me the error message" Cannot create or replace IMG Access is denied" WHY IS THIS??? How do I save pictures??
