Pentium D is better because it's dual-cored. Every operation is splited on two processors and processed faster no matter if it is on lower speed. Official tests shows that Pentium D on lower clock speed process operations much quicker than Pentium 4 on higher clock speeds. If the money is not the problem I suggest you to buy a Pentium D. It also consumes less power than P4.

It depends on what you'll use it for. They work totally differently.
The pentium d is a dual-core processor. That means its like two processors working at the same time. It works really great on multitasking because each processor can work independantly at full capacity, rather than splitting up its operating capacity on multiple applications.
With a pentium 4, you'll rarely, if ever, use its full power on a single application.

Pentium D, it helps twin processor cores on a single CPU die, meaning this is rapid and good for multi-tasking. A twin middle processor is extra clever at working multiple purposes. Like purposes that take a hundred% of your cpu and your device will become unresponsive on a single middle device, twin middle keeps to be responsive with the aid of fact of the different middle.

it depends on what you are using your computer for. pentium 4 is for running Demanding software, such as video editing software, but wil be a nightmare to use while multitasking. the pentium d will not run a demanding program well, but it will make it easire to do several things at once, such as surf the internet while listening to music and burning a cd

These are both very good processors.
The best one is the cheapest one. Generally very few people will need the Pentium D, and not all software will take advantage of it.

no a pentium D is better then a pentuim 4, clock speeds are not always that important, you have to look at the bus speed, and how much power it uses

The computer speed doesn't really depends on the processor that much. Get a good, reliable motherbaord (1066MHz) -ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe. And I would recommand to put P4 in. And if you like fast computer try putting in something like 2GB memory.
