if yours has a task bar on the bottom of the screen with a "start" button, you have windows. to find out which version, right click on the "my computer" icon and click on "properties". if you have a menu bar at the top of the screen with "file, edit, ..." it's probably a mac. i'm not exactly sure how to find the os, but i'm guessing by clicking on the logo at the top left corner and clicking on about or something similar will tell you the exact os. hope it helps!!

1. Boot it up and watchthe splash screen to see what loads
2. If already booted. Then click start and is usually displayed on left hand side of start menu
3. right click my computer and choose properties and shows at bottom what operating system
