1. Virus
2. Low on resources.
3. Too hot.

Clean your pc of viruses, add some RAM, or a new graphics card, and put in a minimum of two fans. Used to happen to my PC so i added a 512 MB RAM to my previous 256MB and put in 4 fans and also put in a new ge-force card. Now i have no problem with games.
But my processor is playing the fool now.

It can be many things- power supply going bad, memory going bad or CPU overheating- bad fans. Check your fans with the cover off making sure they all move, and with the computer off, remove and re-seat your memory... The power supply will take another, known good one to try and run for the same time on the same program...

On the software side, it could be the game has a bug and needs a patch, crashing windows, or you have a virus... Check the website for the game for patches and scan your computer for viruses...

There are only a couple of reasons that computers restart: #1- overheating (cpu or video card), #2- power supply doesn't have enough power, #3- the game needs to be updated with the latest patch, #4- you didn't let the game load the version of DirectX that it needs to be able to run, #5- bad stick of memory.

Now, if you let the game install DirectX, and it doesn't need a patch, or has the patch installed, then it's hardware-related. To find out what your voltages and temperatures are, download and install this: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php If you aren't hot, or aren't underpowered, then download this: http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html and let it run overnight.

I think you're getting booted because of low resources.

Please check out the minimum requirements of hardware required to play the game with. It's on the cover of the CD Pack or at the site where you downloaded it from, or the home page, in case you're playing online.

Match this with what you have in your computer and you'll find where the shortfall is. Upgrade accordingly and it'll work fine.

All the best.

Cheers

Most probable cause is Virus, but there are chances that your game program needs to be reinstalled.

1. Scan your PC for virus if you have virus software or get a free one from McAfee http://www.mcafee.com/us/

2. Remove your game and try reinstalling again.

It could be that your graphics card can not handle the game. Check the minimum requirements for the game and make sure you meet them. If it does, there is also the possibility that your computer is overheating. Make sure there is good air flow inside your computer.
