So I just bought a laptop from Dell, An 120G XPS, for $2800.00. Does the price sound outrageous to you......starting to regret buying such an expensive laptop.....am I stupid for that??

my computer is running slow! ever since i've got a windows xp cd rom from someone else it was running slow. when the guy gave my mom the computer without windows xp it was fine. my pc is windows 2000. do i have to delete the hard drive i mean what should i do so the computer should run fast?

I only have two fan plugins on my Motherboard which are chasis fan and CPU fan. I think I could buy a splitter for the Chasis fan and connect my new fan there. Anythoughts?

hi guys i have Acer laptop , and with no reason the mouse "touch pad and the clicker " stop working ... i uninstalled the driver and re installed it again from the website the same problem ... nothing i have a usb mouse it works good , ....!!! one more thing .. when i start my computer the pad mouse works for a secound and stoped again ... any sugtions ?? thx .

I recently bought a laptop from Radio Shack that they were selling out of and It was stolen from my vehicle this weekend in Pittsburgh. I am not real computer literate so I have no idea if it has a tracking program on it. I did not have the internet up and running on it yet if that makes a difference. Trying to get answers from toshiba or radio shack has not been with good results. What do you think::: does it have a tracking device installed, and if so how do I activate it and find it.? I know i did not install any programs at all or even put any information on the computer at all yet so it probably has a clean hard drive.

Hello. I am fixing my brother-in-law's computer that my OTHER brother-in-law built with all kinds of stupid hacked beta versions of windows, etc...

- I did a clean install of a legit Windows 2K on a new harddrive.
- Because I didn't make the computer, I dont know what kind of MOBO it is. It has an onboard ethernet connection. I couldn't get it to work, so I put in a PCI ethernet card and installed the drivers and I am able to connect online
- Computer is running a GeForce FX 5700 LE video card. I DL'd the drivers, installed it.
- I downloaded and installed Firefox.
- DL'd Avast! Antivirus and ran it, did a boot scan, etc... no problems.
- I did this whole process TWICE to rule out a bad install of the OS

When I open up IE or Firefox and resize the window or attempt to generally move around, SOMETIMES it will throw an iexplorer.exe error. Sometimes it will simply crash the computer all together and force it to restart. All fans are working.

Suggestions? Or is it a lost cause?

i know the processor is not brilliant but it's the fastest celeron available apparently. anyhow, do you thnk if i add an extra 512mb ram, would this make a difference to overall performance?

I have a HP Pavilion dv8000 and I am having a problem with my power. I have my ac power plug in the laptop and about every 5-10 secs it swiches to battery but my ac power is still plug up to my laptop. I know this because where the laptop speaker is on the left of it ,it have 3 blue lights that indicate the power and if my computer is charging. The first two light blink when it swiches to battery. Please tell me the problem or if you experience this problem.

I bought my husband a Microsoft Wireless keyboard and mouse for his birthday, since connecting it we have had a few hiccups, but the most recent one is that the keyboard seems to go to sleep after just a few minutes of inactivity, using the 'sleep' button is ineffective, and the only way to get it to work again is to restart the whole thing, which is time consuming and so infuriating.
Does anybody know why this happens and how to stop it from happening, and in laymans terms if possible, hubby is at work, it would be so good to have it sorted for when he gets back. Thanks :-)
