Over the weekend I purchased the 160 gig Western Digital portable hard drive. Im running Win XP pro and when I tried to back up my computer, I got an error saying that only 4 gigs can be backed up and that I would need to adjust my HD in order to back up more.

Whats going on and how do I fix the situation so I can back up my computer?

Do I really want to back up my computer instead of just saving all the information I want to back up?

After installing my hp scanner (scanjet 3970) - and correctly following all of the steps - I am getting the error message "an unexpected internal error has occurred" when I try to scan.

My PC has recently been reformatted due to hard drive issues, and I have been able to successfully install other software but I can not get my scanner to work. Any thoughts from the geeks out there? :)

I was told to boot up in BIOS which I did, the opitions are:
Floppy
LS120
+ Hard disk
CD Rom
Zip100e
USB-FDD
USB-ZIP
USB-CD ROM
Legacy IAN

I think these are wrong, but I have no idea about how to correct them, in order to get my computer to recognise my disk drive. Thanks.

somebody told me that you can download software for a graphics card that kids your pc into thinking it has a card, although it doesn't and that it just uses RAM but allows you to play games as if you had a video card. is this true and where can i get one from?

Keep getting this error on Windows XP SP2. Happens when connected to the Internet. Basically the internet connection terminates after a few minutes of receiving this error message and the sound card gets disabled. Also the user interface changes to the classic style but then comes back to normal again.

I thought my Windows was corrupted, so I done a fresh installation and the only software I installed was AVG Anti Virus, MSN Messenger and Adobe Acrobat Reader. But I still get that error message! I defo got no virus on my PC.

I bought a Compaq N600 1GHz laptop some months ago only to discover that there is a password to access the bios. I know it is not a hard disk password as I have changed hard drives more than once and still can't access the bios. I also understand that with these kind of laptops you cannot just reset the cmos. I have also been advised about short-circuting the motherboard but that sounds a bit risky. Is there any software that will get rid of that password as I cannot get a hold of the seller anymore.

I tried to burn a disc today, only to discover that my disc drive can't be detected, I don't understand why, I can't think what I may have done. I've tried unistalling it in device manager, then re- started the compute, it didn't work, I've tried System restore, it won't work. I have recovery disc's that you have to do when you buy a new computer, but can't use them because of not being able to use the disc drive- argh! The computer says the driver may be corrupted or damaged, if this is the case, how can I get a updated driver on the net? I have a PC and am running Windows XP if thats any help. Thanks.

I've currently got about 6 gigs remaining on my 80gig harddrive. I've noticed lately that my computer has slowed down drastically. I've been downloading a lot of really big files lately and I think that might have something to do with it. There's no spyware or viruses or anything like that (at least, none that I can detect). If I free up a couple more gigs will my computer pick up the pace?

I can't get my usb modem to work with it, once i plug it in i get the little bleep that mean's it's detected it, but a second after i get the other bleep that you get when you disconnect it.

Secondly, it refused to work today, only in safe mode, until i disconnected my USB mouse, it just shot into life all of a sudden.

Any computer experts out there wanna explain this to me?

TIA
