I don't have access to control panel, and I also can't right click or anything, because school PC has limmited options (unless ur Admin). I'm running Intel Celeron, Winows 98, on an IBM PC 300GL...I've also tried restarting computer to see if it'll recognise it as an extra drivee, but nothing happened. Also, refreshing the "My Computers" page doesn't work...Please help!!!

I don't think USB drives work with Windows 98, unless there is an appropriate hardware drive installed from the drive's manufacturer. You need Administration privileges to install software

Your computer in school must be under a group policy... where you wont be able to do any admin tasks such as opening the control panel and stuff like that.

You can get it emailed to you from outside.... or if the file is too big just upload it to X-Drive and download it in school... XDrive is provided by AOL and its free

All the best....

Sounds like your school computers have a policy to stop you using USB sticks. Lots of network admins do this because it means they can manage the systems better as USB stick are one way of introducing viruses onto the PC's. Speak to the local admin guy and ask if it is allowed, there are friendly people if you are polite with them. Hope this helps.

colin is right, 98 won't support it unless it's been modified to do so. i'm sure the rules the others mention are correct, but 98's usb support was limited. you won't find a better answer than he supplied, and to the person that wrote the nasty answer " take it and plug it *****" why are you here, you are of no use to this site.

Your pc in school must be below a team coverage... the place you wont have the skill to do any admin projects including beginning the administration panel and stuff like that. you may get it emailed to you from exterior.... or if the report is merely too vast merely upload it to X-power and get carry of it in school... XDrive is provided by making use of AOL and its loose each and every of the terrific....

windows 98 comes with very basic usb support. you could try the device manger and see if it even recognizes the usb drive.

To access device manager:
Right-click "My Computer"
Click "Properties"
Click the Hardware Tab
Click Device Manager

Sounds like they have the PC locked down to prevent hardware installs. Someone with admin rights on the computer will need to install it or you. Have you tried reseating the memory stick, or trying another usb port?
