My old PC has a SIS L4S5MG motherboard based on SIS 650 chipset. Manual says that it has a FSB of 266 MHz. Will it support a RAM of 533MHz? I mean to say will that RAM work? It does not matter if the ram works on 266 MHz. This is because I'm not getting 266 MHz RAM in the market.

First of all, I don't want any hairbrained posts saying "MOAR RAM GET LOLZ.", because I'm not interested in sinking a single dollar more into these machines, and I don't want ANY of you to even think about hitting the reply button unless you've got something worthwhile to add.

Now that the idiots have clicked the "back" button, I can explain my problem. I have a fleet of eight Compaq V3000 laptops that have 512MB of system RAM, and the aforementioned graphic cards in them. The graphic cards draw 256MB of physical RAM from the system. That leaves 256MB for Windows and all the other applications I'm looking to run. I do not need 256MB of video memory, as there are to be no games played on these laptops (Especially when my employees are supposed to be working on them). There is a way to detune the video memory, but in the system's BIOS, it instructs you to change the video memory settings in Windows. The Nvidia nTune software lacks this option. In this case, how does one do this?

I was looking at e-bay and I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5-USB-2-0-HDD-Hard-Disk-Drive-Case-External-Portable_W0QQitemZ120097543894QQcategoryZ41911QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I was wondering what are these cases for? There are 2.5" and 3.5" ones and inside there is this chip. Is it for internal hard drives?

And also, if they are for internal hard drives, can I plug them into laptops and computers?

I bought a 2.5" USB 2.0 HDD HARD DISK DRIVE CASE EXTERNAL PORTABLE.
I just found out that I can only put an internal hard drive from a laptop onto this.

I was wondering where can I find these kind of hard drives? Like if i'm looking through e-bay, what should I put on search becuase i tried internal hard drive, but appearently there are so many like

IDE
SCSI
SATA
SCA

I have no idea what to look for.

I have an HP dv5220us, with Windows xp media center. I don’t play a lot of cd’s but a month or so back I tried and got no sound. I didn’t think much of it. Now it still doesn’t play and I have tried every thing I can think of. I have up dated the driver. I have done some things and restarted it….still no luck. I do get the sounds…like when Windows opens or closes. I have Conexant High Definition Audio. What can I do next? I know how to use a computer, but I am not very good at configuring and all that stuff. So, if you can help please make it step by step. Thanks.

I have two pcs set up on a wireless router, each time I turn on either computer it installs a "new" printer! Why is it doing this and how can I get it to stop. Also, each pc has an identical printer hooked up to it. One printer prints the other one doesn't.
Help! Thanks!

I have a strange situation maybe someone can help me out with. I recently posted my desktop computer on Craigslist. It was custom built for gaming, and was worth about $500-$700 easily. I was including all the speakers, monitor, mouse, etc.

I got an email from a guy who said he had a dell laptop and he wanted to trade. It was an XPS and gave me the specs. I agreed and we met halfway, traded the stuff, and all was good. He called me about 3 hours later and asked if I had the Linux disc it came with. I had forgotten to bring it so I asked him to email me his address and I'd send it in the mail. We hung up.

So about 4 hours after the first call, he calls back and says that he just tried installing a wireless network card and that he keeps getting error messages. He says that he realized that, since he emailed a bunch of people, he thought it was a different computer, and wants to come get the laptop. What right do I have, or he have? He took ownership right? He's out of luck?

Has anyone installed DIMM modules from a vendor other than Apple in a Mac Pro? I'm looking to upgrade, but the Apple price seems to be 40% higher than comparable other manufacturers (except for the heat sink thingee). I already have 4GB installed of Apple RAM, want to double it. (I do alot of High-Def After effects work and 3D rendering) BTW I also run both XP and OSX - with most work being done in XP at this time.

Hello, I have a white macbook (because I couldn't afford the black version) and I was wondering if there was anyway I could install a black OEM macbook housing on my white macbook? If so, where could I find the parts? And lastly, are there any people who offer a service that does that?

In windows 98 you could run a scandisk by opening the program and doing it there and then. I find in XP you have to right click hard drive > properties > tools > check now > tick two boxes > click start > then have to reboot your PC to get it working.
Is there a simpler way of doing this????
