Mac Pro Dual Xeon Workstation Memory other than Apple?

Has anyone installed DIMM modules from a vendor other than Apple in a Mac Pro? I'm looking to upgrade, but the Apple price seems to be 40% higher than comparable other manufacturers (except for the heat sink thingee). I already have 4GB installed of Apple RAM, want to double it. (I do alot of High-Def After effects work and 3D rendering) BTW I also run both XP and OSX - with most work being done in XP at this time.

I threw in 2 gb of non-apple dimms... sweet! good dimms are good dimms!

bad dimms suck!

buy a good brand from a company that guarantees their hardware!
