See, I can get files from my phone to my computer...but can't figure out how to do it the other way around...

I am wanting to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 2500 so it will perform faster and so I can install Windows Vista. Dell recommends a maximum of 512 MB of RAM for my notebook. I am wanting to upgrade the hard-drive to 160 GB and the RAM to 1GB (2 sticks of 512 MB). Will this combination of hard-drive and RAM work properly?

ok, so the motherboard i buy didn't have an onboard sound card but it comes with a soundcard that I need to plug it in myself. It is a ASUS commando, it comes with a PCI sound card I assume...

do I have to go into bios and set something before I can use the sound card? or windows will detect itself after I install the OS?

I am trying to install a second hard drive it is a deskstar 40gv, and if I use the "disable auto" spin jumper setting, in the start up screen it says that there is an error with the secondary slave drive, and the bios do not come up. but I set the jumpers to slave the drive spins comtinuously but windows xp loads fine. How should I set up the drive to not spin all the time and get windows to load?

I'm getting a new laptop and I'm pretty sure that the operating system on it is Windows Vista. What is that and why don't the new computers have Windows XP? What's the difference between them? I'm seriously confused!

I have a HP Pavilion dv6000z CTO Notebook that has VGA and S-Video outputs. The S-Video out has 7-pins, so I was wondering if I should (or even COULD) use a s-video 7-pin to component cable to plug into my hdtv monitor television* OR possibly use some VGA to component cable to plug into that television. Which solution would provide the best picture quality?

I have already used a 4-pin s-video patch cable to get basic 1024x768 resolution on my television, but it is very poor quality. My television DOES have DVI-D Input, but my laptop has no digital outputs at all to use for that, so I've concluded (hopefully correctly) that component input on the television would be the next best thing. So I just am wondering if I could use the 7-pin s-video or the VGA outputs to the component inputs.

Please Help!!!!

Notebook with Vista come with a setting which mouse will click on an icon by just point on for particular time. I think it is default setting. I wonder if there's a way to close this setting? (It bugs me too much already.)

Without going into all the gory details about how it happened, I suddenly have about a 13 GB partition on my hard drive -- completely blank. Is there any way to combine it with the main partition with tools inside Windows (as opposed to buying software for it)? Thanks!

One night I was using my Microsoft Curve Keyboard 2000, after I shut my computer down and turned it on again it stopped working. I went to exchange it today, but it is still not working. The volume control and calculator key (key that brings up calculator, not keypad) works, but the regular keys don't. The num lock key has no light.
What should I do?

I have WinTV2000 and I'd like to watch a movie played on a VCR. I already checked, the VCR is hooked up, on, and playing the film, but I can't figure out how to make WinTV show it to me.

I've played movies like this on WinTV before but that was ages ago and I don't remember how to anymore...

I just ordered a new external hard drive that is 320gb online. I found out that Windows XP cannot format anything over 30gb in FAT32. This harddrive is in NTFS. And it is necessary for me to have this hdd in FAT32. What other ways can I format this into FAT32?

i tried to install windows me (she was running 98) but ie kept popping up none stop and causing a fatal error, so i tried using the start up disk to start pc with cd rom support to see if that would help. now cd rom isnt working, i tried to do a system restore but it says nothing has changed

I have just installed windows xp service poack 2 to my computer, as a new install, and I keep receiving all sorts of stop error messages this consist of... 0x00000050, 0x0000000a, 0xcdcdcdd3, etc. I have had more than those, so I did what some of them said, and upgraded from a 4GB hardrive, I have just added a 128mb video card today, and I can't get videos to play on my computer in any other way than a jittery fashion. I need some help here in what direction I can go in to fix my computer (and I know buying a new one would be easier, but I want to save this one as I have just put this money into it).

So heres the story:
Using Gparter, I partitioned my 250 gig HD into 2 separate ones. the HD already had Windows OS on it, but i wanted to dual boot linux. So any way, after partitioning I forgot that I had to make a boot disk (for linux). I re-re-partitioned my HD back into a 250 gig HD, but it won't load up windows!!!! All that happens is that there is a black screen with a white cursor blinking on the upper left hand corner. When I go back into Gparter, it says that the data is there, but it just doesn't want to load. BTW i have an HP computer, and there IS a system restore option, BUT THAT DELETES ALL MY DATA, WHICH I DON'T WANT TO DO!

Please any one who can help, I am desperate!

It is a model W3507 and it's pretty new *just a few months old* and it works pretty good, except every ten minutes or so, it will squeak. Sounds like it's sneezing. I still have my warranty. Does anyone know what it could be, is it something that can be easily fixed or do I need to just forget about this one and get another one?

This has never happened before I am doing a reformat on an oldie, 40GB HD, 128MB ram, Dell. After running the boot disk and format C, and yes to format, the format process got up to 8 per cent then says Not Ready---Format terminated. Whats up with that? Did it again, this time it stayed at zero, then gave the same message. Fried hard drive?
