disable auto spin on second hard drive help?

I am trying to install a second hard drive it is a deskstar 40gv, and if I use the "disable auto" spin jumper setting, in the start up screen it says that there is an error with the secondary slave drive, and the bios do not come up. but I set the jumpers to slave the drive spins comtinuously but windows xp loads fine. How should I set up the drive to not spin all the time and get windows to load?

Hi. The "Power Management" settings can be set to spin down your drives after so many minutes. Just a thought.
