So I just bought a laptop from Dell, An 120G XPS, for $2800.00. Does the price sound outrageous to you......starting to regret buying such an expensive laptop.....am I stupid for that??

It depends on how it is configured. At that price you probably have a pretty healthy system, which is never bad. Also, if you got the extended warranty, which is a very good idea, that would add to the price. Dell has very good machines that are very price competitive with other manufacturers machines that are configured the same.

It is hard to answer your question without knowing the details of your new system, but worrying that you didn't shop around enough is very common when you spend what it costs to get a good system. I would say stop worrying about it and just enjoy your new machine.

BTW.....I spent that much on my business laptop from Dell and I wouldn't do it any differently if I could go back and do it again.

The price isnt outrageous at all because the XPS series are Dell high end systems. Although you may get a laptop of 2/3rds of the price you paid with other manufacturers, Dell still offers the best build quality on their machines and are backed by a very efficient after sales service. Other equally good options would have been HP or Toshiba which are second to none. Sony Vaio are also good but are for some strange more expensive at lower specs nevertheless good build quality.

NO offense but , yea. You can build your own pc (not laptop) LESS than 800 bucks and make an amazing computer. Top processors, ram, cooling, casing, everything you need. Laptops are good. But don't get a really nice one. Laptops are more liable to breaking just because they can move and there's more of a risk of breaking it. So its better to buy a 600 dollar laptop. That can get you by with word proc. e-mailing, some games. If you ever spend big money on a laptop go with an apple laptop or an Hp. I would go with a apple laptop for about 1000 and up.

Bottom line: return that laptop if you can. But don't worry if you can't. Its def a good computer.

I am going to build a computer and can't wait because I will be saving up to 500 dollars on it rather than buying one from dell.

Good luck

You made a good decision and didn't get ripped off. I used to work for Dell and know the quality of their products. Not only did you get whatever features are on the laptop you are getting world-class support and more than likely a warranty that will cover yourself even if you accidentally dropped it down stairs or spilled hot coffee on it (I would check to see what warranty you have before you do any of that and i take no responsibility if u screw something up lol) plus you have a quality product that will cause you less headaches in the future. ENJOY!

I you bought it from Dell, then you weren't ripped off. Look at your receipt and see what the 'add-ons' were. Such as warranty, software, etc. You may not be thinking about the cost of those such items when in fact you should.
