I have a HP Pavilion dv8000 and I am having a problem with my power. I have my ac power plug in the laptop and about every 5-10 secs it swiches to battery but my ac power is still plug up to my laptop. I know this because where the laptop speaker is on the left of it ,it have 3 blue lights that indicate the power and if my computer is charging. The first two light blink when it swiches to battery. Please tell me the problem or if you experience this problem.

My dog have been chewing on the cord that could be a problem. My outlets are O.K. that shouldn't be the problem.

Make sure that it is plugged in tight in the back where the jack goes into the pc, also, follow along the cord and make sure that it is in tight to the little box that is on the power cord, and then plug it into a different outlet. If that doesn't work:
Next thing to try is to turn your computer off, remove the battery from the back, reinsert it, and then make sure that it is locked into place.
Then turn on the pc and see if the problem goes away.

Might be the ac adapter- if they are overheating this can happen.

Is the power in that outlet ok? Do you have an electric heater plugged in as well that might be making the voltage drop like that? Try a different outlet in someone elses house to confirm.

If it continues, go to the computer store and try it with one of their adapters (or a universal adapter if available). If it still happens your pc is the culprit!

Somehow you have to 'break the problem in half' to see where the problem lies.

Also, did you replace your battery under the recall? If not, you could have one of the bad batteries that might cause this. Check the HP site.

DON'T IGNORE THIS PROBLEM! Could be a fire hazard.
