I ask this from my lap top!!! My desktop fired up this morning but the moniter is blank. I need to power down so I can take it for repair. How do I shut down without pulling the plug on it. How can I turn it of if I cant see the screen!!!

I currently have a HP Deskjet 3745 printer; however, the installment disk was lost when I moved to another place. I was told that I could download a replacement online rather than possibly going back to the store that I've bought it from and wasting money just to get another disk; however, I don't where to go or how to do that. PLEASE HELP!!!

I am in the market for a low to mid end gaming laptop.....I mostly play WoW and FPS's like halo, css, and far cry. I currently have a 3 year old laptop with a 64mb geforce go 440 that actually plays all those games listed pretty well....problem is its only a direct x 7 card and its starting to get old.....these are the 2 new laptops I'm looking at...

LAPTOP #1.......$900
intel centrino dual core 1.73 ghz
256mb geforce 7400
80 gig hd
1 gig of ram

LAPTOP #2.......$810
AMD turion 2.0 ghz single core
256mb geforce 7200
80 gig hd
1 gig of ram

Both these laptops are the same brand/model just the cpu and gpu are diff. I am usually an AMD man but if the 7400 is a big jump from the 7200 I'll go with intel.

Let me know what you think.

Hi! I had headphones plugged into the jack while listening to music and I went too far and yanked the headphones out. The sound on my laptop still works, but when I plug in the headphones, the music does not go through to the headphones. I really need to use the headphones in public places that are meant to be quiet, so is there anything I can purchase? I called to have the jack fixed but it will cost a hundred dollars (around this figure at all places I called) and this isn't covered under my insurance plan.

My USB connections on my computer work fine. But when I try my Belkin USB hub, it doesn't work. The Belkin hub has 7 USB connections. What can the problem be?

I was just on the net reading the news today then I miminized it then I saw that I didn't have my picture as my background anymore! All I can do now is pick colors as a background, the pictures are all "blanked out" (you know how it's faded so when you click it's useless) and so is the browse button. If it helps I'm on windows xp.

I have a Lexmark 2200 which printed fine when the black ink cartridge was replaced about a month ago. Haven't used it since and now it does not print black. Short of replacing the cartridge again, is there another way to fix this problem?

Ok, you know how on the apple commercial, one is called "mac", and the other is "pc"
Well, I thought a Mac was a PC, because PC stands for personal computer. Just because a computer does not run Windows, doesn't mean it's not a PC. On youtube there were really good spoofs of Mac vs PC, and they included Linux. It looked more like operating system verses operating system.
Is mac a PC. If not, why not?

I have a friend of mine who got his computer piece by piece he took his old hard drive out from his hewlett packard comp. put it in his new computer and when he poot his win98 boot disk in it went through the format process but when it completed the format it said it was unable to install windows on the hard drive. So i took it out of his comp and put it in mine. It shows nothing on the hard drive. As far as i can tell it is completely erased. Why then can he not install windows on it.
