is there a count down timer ruining? if there is go to run and type cmd then in the command prompt type shutdown-a which will abort the shutdown... most likely someone is playing a prank on you so go to control panel and then go to Date, Time, Language settings, then go to schedule tasks... if there's any thing in there with shutdown on it just delete it and you should be fine... if no then there's a shutdown timer set on your PC some where hidden and you will have to find it.. it will be an icon

could be a cooling issue.....try to move your computer out from under u desk...if u r using it a lot at long intervals u can put a little desk top fine on it. U know the back of your computer where the vents r? Make sure that has proper venaliation...it could be that one of your fans or at or that u just need to pop the case off and use the canned air to dust it. u wan to put the dest top fan by the vents btw

or just pop the case off for now and let it cool down some...u can still run your computer with the case off

it might be that your BIOS is set to overclock. Try setting the BIOS settings to default. I had the same problem with my other computer. It would restart every once in a while. It only restarts because it gets teh Blue screen of death. Which is an error from a driver.

Sounds like it's overheating. Google Speedfan and install it, you'll be able to see what your CPU temp is. Anything much over 50C is too high and may cause the computer to reboot.

Also if you overclocked it, rebooting is a sign of instability. It could also be a program you recently installed, so check that as well.

The usual causes for random shutdowns are:
1)Overheating triggers auto-shutdown to protect the CPU;
2)Memory module going bad;
3)Power supply going bad.

Could be a virus. I wouldn't depend on Norton to find it. I have a brand new computer that picked up a virus while protected by Norton. Norton said my system was virus free and fully protected. I downloaded AVG free and it found the virus and fixed it for me. Good luck to you.
