if you already have winxp installed then you need to just start the instalation of your other os,i recommend suse linux as it pretty simple,or you could try linux xp,ubuntu is also good,if you dont want to download and make a cd then get one from ebay.co.uk just type in linux, once the intallation starts then it will ask what partition to install it to,set that and then let it do its thing, once installed all you do is start your system as normal and a bootloader will appear asking which os partition you want to boot from, its great fun having 2 os versions as there is so many free apps on the net for linux its unbelievable.

If you have already installed Windows XP then, you have to unpartition one of the drives and then insert the bootable Linux disc and restart the system. Then, you have to boot Linux from the disc and the procedure will be briefly defined and then you have to carry on the process by telling the OS to use the free space, which is the unpartitioned area. Your Linux is ready to use once you have installed completely.

Depends on the flavor of linux that you will be installing. But, with all the ones I have dealt with. You just install windows first. Which you have done. Then install linux (to a free partition) and use its boot manager.

that's very easy you just need to know that 1-the drives at which you install two operation systems must be separated.2-it's recommended that format the now drive in NTFS mode 3-you need a system cammander to choose the system at the start but in new linuxes of course you have such one, after installing the linux at the start you will be automatically asked to choose the operation system

You may use your D drive for installing Linux. Never install two OS in the same drive .

its fairly easy with ubuntu linux, Go to www.ubuntu.com,
download the ISO image burn to cd.. then restart using the cd..
when completely booted you will get the desktop similar (though not) to windows desktop, and an icon saying install..
You can go to following link.. before installing ubuntu
http://ftp.ubuntulinux.org/ubuntu/dists/warty/main/installer-i386/current/doc/manual/en/index.html
