I have a Lexmark 2200 which printed fine when the black ink cartridge was replaced about a month ago. Haven't used it since and now it does not print black. Short of replacing the cartridge again, is there another way to fix this problem?

To avoid this happening & wasting an almost new cartridge you should print a test page about once a week. I take half Windex & half water & heat it up then pour it into a saucer then hold just the head under the surface for a good 2 minutes. Blot on paper towel & keep repeating till the ink flows out.@

take a dish and fill it with a little bit of hot tap water. set the cartridge in it (so the water hits the ink port). soak for a bout a minute or so.

dab off gently on a paper towel and then attempt to print. this works in most cases.

I've had good luck using a water soaked Kleenex tissue. It got the ink flowing again pretty fast, and took a while, but slowed down, and became normal after a while. Got it unclogged, and wasted some ink. Oh well.

Contact Lexmark. They could replace your cartridge for free.
