I'd say the most taxing thing I'm looking to do is play WoW and The Sims 2 on there. Does this look decent? It's an HP Pavillion.

Your biggest worries would be with mem. A gig is ok but not going to cut it. I recommend 2 at a min, and 4 standard. Also with your OS. XP sometimes takes some playing to get it to see all 4. Vista will see it fine. But you have to deal with the inherent bugs in new M$ software.
Everything else sounds fine to me. Make sure if you do go with only one gig that the laptop can handle up to 4 for future upgrades.

It works just fine and would do just what you are asking, though in my opinion the Dell e1505 is better than an hp for a number of reasons. Better mouse area and keyboard, plus the media buttons are nicer and it looks a little cooler. I have tried both by the way. It is really your opinion though.
