ok your asking 2 question here. let me explain. the one your asking about to revert your pc when it was bought is a system restore. now there are two ways to restore your pc when it was bought 1 is use system restore from the Click Start, point to All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore. Then choose the earliest time possible for you to revert to that time. now the 2nd thing is use a restore disk that came with your pc if it had one if none then you can only use the system restore. now the other thing your asking is when windows is loading just press F8 key then choose safe more in safe mode windows will ask you if you want to use system restore instead of safe mode. basically thats it. hope it helps you.

depending on the brand of computer there is usually a "recovery" option found during the computer boot or start up. For example Dell has a F2 and F12 option on the very first black screen right before the "Windows XP" Splash screen appears. (F2 = setup or Bios & F12 = boot options) Choosing the F12 will bring you to a series of options where you will find a "system recovery" option and a few others : "Last know working configuration", OS selections, reboot, etc. You will look for the recovery option which will load the factory installed Operating system and drivers that are default for the system.
