This is my second Dell and I thought it would be as good as the first one was. Windows Vista is horrible! I can't even use AutoCad on it! The computer seems slower and more bogged down, and it's brand new! Does anyone know how I can return the computer, and if it is a tough process?

I am building my first computer soon and I am wondering which type of hard drive to get. I see there two different types, IDE and SATA interfaces. I've also herd rommers about not being able to load windows with SATA hard drives. Is this true? Which type should I get?

Theres an orange flasing light on my battery symbol. The laptop won't turn on unless it is plugged in. My battery won't charge and the laptop does not run on the battery. What's wrong?

My HP labtop won't charge anymore. when I plug the battering into it the computer doesn't even aknowledge it. I haven't twisted or deform the battery cord at all and I bought this labtop brand new and it hasn't even been a year. Can anyone help and if this has happened to you, can you please tell me what you did to solve the problem?? Thanxs.

I read, elsewhere on yahoo answers that a Micro ATX Socket 478 would fit sweetly into the dell... but ive never changed a motherboard before and Im not sure how hard the job would be..

Plus... once the job was done and all the bits screwed in... would my windows OS's (i run a tripple boot 2000,XP and Vista) have dificulies beyond my having to find a few new drivers?? Pls help!

Sometimes my monitor has the ability to be in full color, and sometimes it turns colorblind. The colors become distorted. Like red becomes black and yellow becomes yellow green. Overall the screen just becomes greenish. One day, the monitor just wont turn on. So I let those hardware experts take care of it. When I had the monitor back, it was ok. It had the ability to be in full color again. But not for long... It's back to being greenish.

i've installed geforce 6200 AGP , andy when i tried to open the windows live messenger, it doesn't. and i can see that it uses almost 100% of the cpu!
is it related? i think so... any suggestions?

I had some family pictures sent to me and I saved them to my hard drive. I now am trying to save them on to a CD-R and I keep getting the message

" Cannot copy picture. Files on this CD-ROM are read only. You cannot copy or move files over to this CD-ROM drive. "

There are pictures already on this CD and I went into properties to change them from Read only to normal and it says I can't.

The pictures sent to me are not read only, so is there a way to save these on to a CD ?

I recently installed windows vista on my computer on another drive seperate from my windows xp one. I didnt like it so I went back to my xp. Now when ever I turn my computer on it tells me to pick windows vista or an older version of windows which is my xp. Is there any way to get rid of that message?

Hello, I just bought a Dell C640 off of eBay, and got it yesterday. I'd never even touched a laptop before.!LOL It seems to be working just fine, and I'm getting used to it abit, but I have a question or two or 5:) Is there anyway I could hook up a mouse to this thing? This touch pad/stick thingy is the biggest problem I'm having..it seems like it's hard to get a stable cusor spot...unless it's just me. I didn't get any manuals or anything, so I'm kind of just winging it:) Is there anything special I should know about the battery charging? Can I just use it plugged in all the time when an outlet is available? And is there any specific length of time you should let it charge to avoid any possible overcharge problems? Is there a warning of any sort when your battery runs low, and how can you check your battery's remaining charge? I guess, just ANY pointers and advice would be very helpful:) Thanks so very much!!

I'm planning on getting a new laptop/notebook. The ones with 1G of ram cost a lot more than 512MB. My home computer ran OK on only 128 MB for several years until I recently updated it to 512. It now runs all my programs just fine with 512. Why would I need 1G of RAM. Is it worth the extra money to get the 1G?
