There are a lot of possibilites that causes your PC to restart;
1> Your OS
2> You Motherboard
3> Your Memory Module
4> Power Supply
You could test all this by:
1. Reinstalling your Operating System.
2. Replacing your Memory module with a good one.
3. Replacing your Power Supply with a good one.
4. If you tried all three you could say that your motherboard is the cause of the problem, I am afraid that you need to replace it.
Just try all of those okay? :D

is the 8 gig HD an older one? It may be crashing. Sounds like you may need to do a clean install. You will need to format your HD and load XP on a clean drive.
