RIght everyone since my prevoius post i have now managed to get the PC back up and running (thanks for the comment some were very helpful) i used system restore. BUT... i went back in checked all drives were correxct and present and all appreared to be ok i even played a cd with Media player. I then downloaded the new itunes 7 and guess what the cd/dvd drives have been disabled again, and they wont update or reinstall, it looks like i will have to do another system restore. Getting really annoyed with this now. Does anyone know off any issue with a packard bell and Itunes (i know it sounds stupid but i am running low on ideas)

I recently built a computer and installed XP Pro. I tried installing the drivers for the ethernet ports and they installed alright, but I rebooted the computer and no LAN connection was detected and no ethernet cards were either. I decided to do a clean install of XP Pro, so I did, but when I erased the original partition on the hard drive, I was unable to format the hard disk afterwards and got some blue screen error saying something like "hard disk failure"... I plan on buying a new hard drive, but am still worried about the ethernet card not working like last time. BIOS detects the dvd burner, the dead hard drive, processor, RAM and video card worked alright as well when XP did work.

My system info:
Asus M2N-SLi Deluxe motherboard
West. Dig. Caviar 250gig HD (the one that is dead)
AMD Athlon64x2 5200+
wintec ampX DDR2 800 RAM

I have 2 sata drives as boot and secondary. Today I bought another drive (eide) but when I added it Windows says it can't read the boot drive anymore so it won't boot. I tried every combination of slave/master/ide1/ide2 but no joy. I have a dvd-r drive on ide2 and never had a problem I even removed the dvd-r to see if it would make a diff but no.

MB-Microstar MS-7125
Processor -Athlon64 X2 4200
Ram - OCZ 512mb (x2) 1gig
Drives - 1 WD 200g (sata1), 1 Maxtor 200g(sata2), 1 WD 320 eide 1 generic 4x DVD-R

My stupid scanner wont work. It does everything else fine, copy & print. But when i try to scan this is what happens:
1. Item is Scanned, and the scan preview screen pops up, and shows a good image of the scan.
2. After ScanPreview finishes the TextEdit application opens the scanned item & the scan then appears in some kind of hieroglyphics instead of as an image.
3. I tried again to scan the item by clicking on Scan Document in the HP Image Zone. An Error appears stating "The Scanner is busy or ou do not have a scanner selected. Please make sure it is not in use by another program when you try again. "
4. I hit OK.
5. Another Error message appears "Unable to connect to device"
6. I hit OK
7. Another Error message appears "Unable to communicate with Twain data source.
This happens each and every time i try to scan something. The Printer works without problems. And the Copier works without problem.
Please advise me on how i can make my computer understand the scanner info.

My computer has shut down, and everythime I try to turn it on, the monitor's light blinks, and the screen is blank. But, if I'm lucky, it'll come on after the computer is on for a while. I've got people saying that it's the monitor, and others say it's the power supply. I know it couldn't be the hard drives because I have disconnected them once, and turned it on. The same thing happened, so, like I said, it's not the Hard Drives. What is it?

Ive never really owned my own Mac but I cannot stand windows anymore and im ready for a change. Im thinking about buying a used G4 466Mhz 512md RAM 30gb HD and OS X 10.4. I only use my computer for going on the internet and sometimes photo editing but other than that mostly internet based stuff. Would that be ok for a first time mac owner? Also what questions should I ask the seller.
