My computer has shut down, and everythime I try to turn it on, the monitor's light blinks, and the screen is blank. But, if I'm lucky, it'll come on after the computer is on for a while. I've got people saying that it's the monitor, and others say it's the power supply. I know it couldn't be the hard drives because I have disconnected them once, and turned it on. The same thing happened, so, like I said, it's not the Hard Drives. What is it?

The problem with computer issues is that it can be so many things. You have started down the right path by switching monitors, the key is to switch one element at a time until the issue no longer occurs. My next recommendation is to plug the monitor into another wall outlet or power strip. I have previously had ttoo many devices one one strip and the ammount of power that it could draw was maxed out. If this does not work, try switching video cards if you can get your hands on one. Furhter details may be necessary however. Does the initial screen (bios) show up then the monitor goes blank before windows starts, or is it blank from the moment you power it on?

Could be your monitor is faulty or your graphic settings are set incorrectly. You can check them through your windows control panel, of course the best way to find out is to try another monitor and if that doesnt work try a system restore through the accessories menu in windows, back toa date before the problems started and see what happens.

It could be something simple like a lot of dust inside the CRT. Remove the side panel and vacuum the insides carefully. Buy a can of spray that is used for dust removal.

Or, take it to a repair store and let them do it. Good luck.
