The more media programs you have running the slower your PC will be. Get rid of the programs that you don't need, defrag and it should be better.

Go to this site:
http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000-2144_4-10315544.html

It is a free site...download it. You can run this site once every couple of days and it will clean up your computer. You most likely have a lot of temporary files of sites you have visited and those need to be removed.

The ccleaners program will also help speed up our computer.

You can also do the following:

Right click on start.

Click explore.

On the left side, scroll down to where it says cookies and double click on it. If you do not see the words cookies, then click on the plus sign where it says docuements and settings. You will find the cookies there.

Go to the top of the page on the left side and click edit, select all. The cookies will all turn blue.

Go back to the top again and click file, deleate. It will ask you if you are sure you want to deleate all (number of items) to the recycle bin. Click yes.

It will deleate all items except the index.dat file. This one is not to be deleated.

If you have anything else listed in your cookies that says desktop.ini do not deleate that one either. Some people have that extra file stored in their cookies

Once you have emptied your cookies, look again on the left side of the same window you are on and click on the word History.
This will show the days of the week like tuesday wednesday thursday.

Go again to the top right of your screen, click edit, select all. Then click file and deleate. The temporary history files of web sites you have visited will also be deleated.

When done with those two, close the window.

Go to your trash bin that is located on your desk top and empty it.

This will help get rid of the excess items that your computer stores and also help you speed up your computer.

I hope this helps :-)

Well most probably you get a virus from your lime wire program. One solution would be to remove it, if you have a anti-virus software program you should use it, if you don't. get one. You can even get one for free, or use a free trial from their websites. I've heard this one is good -> http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/trial_zaFamily/trial_zaFamily.jsp?dc=12bms&ctry=US&lang=en
download the antivirus one it has a 15 day free trial. Then you should get an actual one for full protection, and even get a spy ware protection. You can get one of those for free at http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

If this all does not work you can reformat your computer and re-install the whole thing, so it will be like brand new. But this will cause your hard drive to be brand new so all your files will be lost. Unless you save it on to something else before reformating your whole computer. This is if you have the virus.

If your computer is just getting old, buy new ram, this really boosts the speed of your computer. And they are not to expensive, if you are a bargain hunter you should easily find one for a good price.

Plus be careful when you have limewire, I dont personally use it but I heard it can be a hassle. Hopefull that was helpful.

First of course run your anti-virus protection program. And any other ones to make sure if you do have something on there it is removed. But if your PC is acting slower try cleaning up your temp. files and defrag. There could be many issues but if you need to use your System Restore feature in the System Tools to roll your computer back to a point in time where you know it was running fine. That might be your best option.

Try removing Limewire: remove programs, then do a search to see how many remain and try to delete those. If some won't delete (probably) use System restore to a time before you had Limewire. You have to do this every time you use Limewire, use it for a bit then get rid of it because it is full of bugs and slows things down a lot I think.

limewire has a function called ultrapeer, so even if the program is turned off people can still download off of you, i can prove it to you, uninstall limewire, restart your computer, then thats it, your pc is back to normal

You should delete all your downloads from limewire and if that doesn't work you should try to scan your computer for viruses and check all your files.
