Ive never really owned my own Mac but I cannot stand windows anymore and im ready for a change. Im thinking about buying a used G4 466Mhz 512md RAM 30gb HD and OS X 10.4. I only use my computer for going on the internet and sometimes photo editing but other than that mostly internet based stuff. Would that be ok for a first time mac owner? Also what questions should I ask the seller.

ryan,
computers on ebay are tricky at best. there are many scams in that area.
if you buy one on ebay, please, only pay through PAYPAL and fund it with a CREDIT CARD!
if anything goes wrong, you can file for a CHARGEBACK with the CC company.

I'm glad that you're going for a Mac, however the particular Mac that you're looking at isn't that good. It will run slow, and not be ideal for your computing needs. It is outdated by a LOT. I would recommend looking for something a bit more powerful with at least a 1.8GHz processor. and a G5. I have an iMac G5 that i'm actually looking to sell, but I don't know when. I would go to an Apple Store and ask the sales people there any questions you might have about the Mac. They are very helpful and actually know what they're talking about. They will find you the perfect Mac that meets your needs. You can find an Apple Store near you on Apple's website: http://www.apple.com
If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I've been a Mac user since 1993 and I can help you. (Well ok I'm only 19 but i've USED Macs since 2nd grade lol) Seriously though, I would not recommend getting your first Mac from Ebay. Hope this helped!

Well G4 uses a lot of computing power , how ever the G4 processor is great intense graphics so yes this is great deal plus it is really cool desktop mac in the iMac family how ever there many things that are limited on on the G3 one is proably the G3 processor is not so good for intense graphics.

i'd by no ability purchase MAC makeup on eBay. whether i'd, MAC eyeshadows would be faked to boot, so i does no longer purchase eyeshadows. Eyeshadow from MAC, even bought on eBay, would be fake by ability of no longer truthfully being made by ability of MAC. you are able to tell in the adventure that your MAC makeup is actual by ability of checking in the adventure that your makeup got here with a mirror or sponge tip; actual MAC makeup by no ability comes with a mirror or a sponge tip. i wish I helped! not bad if you are single or double-tasking. I guess that is OK quite low on HD Space and processor speed but it is not that bad.
I have a white MacBook 13" white with 1GB RAM and 2GHz (2000MHz) processor 80GB HD with 10.4 it runs fast. The apple guy told me tiger can run with only 256 ram.

If you're going to buy off of eBay and you want a G4, I'd suggest getting one that's at least 1GHz with a minimum of 512 RAM.

Your first mac is like.. it's like your first true love.
That girl you said those 3 words to, and meant it.
with that in mind.. don't buy a used mac on ebay.
spend that little extra.. you wouldn't want your 'first' to have a shady past, and constantly question what kind of sordid activities she's been a part of.
